Those look pretty nice. How about posting up some night pics? I am curious how the brake lights look. Are they bright enough?

which leds exactly did you buy? tail lights look sick!

Those look nice :) So when you turn them on, they come on at one level and when you hit the brakes, the light up brighter right?
|

sealing tail lights
I used 3M Window Weld to seal my tail lights. I have not had any issues with fogging or water in the tail lens. This can be purchased at Advanced Auto Parts or Pep Boys.

hey i noticed that around 0:55-1:00 the turn signal dimed down and was very light was that the camera trying to focus or the does the "leds" not stay constant brightness i was thinking that a bigger fuse was need to keep up with the new voltage?

they look like Semi-Truck tail lights.
i HATE when you can see each individual LED on tail lights. definitely not a fan. http://www.buytruckstuff.com/product...=34&p_gpID=110 http://www.buytruckstuff.com/images/..._LED_large.jpg you should try my 'diffuser' method. ;) you could do the same thing that i did, but use a full circle instead of a ring. |

I agree with you Tom but for the price, it's a great idea. Kudos to him for being so ingenious with the retrofit.

do you have a write up on your diffuser method? those look sick
get a 1/4" thick piece of frosted acrylic and cut circles in the size you need. then mount the LEDs about 1/2" behind the acrylic. it diffuses the light so you get a nice even glow over the whole shape instead of seeing each individual bulb. the only problem is that it requires a deeper area to work with since you need at least 1/2" between the LEDs and the backside of the acrylic. examples: LEDs without light diffuser: http://www.rhdjapan.com/media/catalo...al/Image10.jpg LEDs with light diffuser: https://i606.photobucket.com/albums/...z/DSC00033.jpg of course, i did a Ring shape instead of a solid circle...but you get the idea. |
not to hard to do, i did mines but with a full circle only, my parking lights are as bright as regular stop lights and when you hit the brake twice as bright.
|
theorie
did you painted the circle to make it darker in the center. i like it ,i may have to do this to mines since i hate seing the bulbs also, do you have any pics of how you did the acrylic. |
nice.

P.S. The purpose of my thread was to showcase a mod that I took the time to do on my car. I am catering to those individuals on this board that are looking for ideas on modding their own car and to answer questions on how I performed the mod. If you are going to hijack my thread at least include pictures of LED tails on an FC not and FD or better yet...start your own thread. |
sweet
|
I know its your thread and between you two. but I personally like the defuser method. not like he's steeling your customers. rings are sick. can be done on a FC just as easy as FD.
|
my buddy did the truck tail lights into his s5 vert tail lights... it looked quite good :)

LEDs with light diffuser:

^ Here is a thread on how to do the work. Let me know if you have any questions:
