Just bought a Nardi Deep Corn Steering Wheel, which hub do I need?

Just picked up a Suede Nardi Deep Corn Steering Wheel and went to install it, bad news; it has a different bolt pattern than my current hub. I think I currently have a Pilot hub.

What hubs are available? I would like something as short as possible. Not high dollar, maybe in the $100-$120 range?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-07-10 10:39 PM

Hey Eric,

There are only two patterns that I'm aware of, momo and nardi. If you buy a nardi/momo adapter ring you should be good to go :icon_tup:

Thanks Rich, I just ordered this adapter.

Another question, my horn button seems too small for my wheel. Will it snap in place without the wheel being mounted up? Strange..

RLaoFD 06-07-10 11:59 PM

what it does is snap into the hub. if the spacer is too shallow, it will not stay in place. Thats what happened to mine when I bought the NRG spacer. I just put washers to space it out just a little. That allows that metal clip inside the bottom of the horn to stay in place.

Do I need some sort of trim ring between the hub and wheel? If so, I don't have one.

RLaoFD 06-08-10 01:05 AM

I'm pretty sure you do, because your spacer is the same size as mine. Wait and test fit before doing anything though because your spacer is a different brand/model.

GoodfellaFD3S 06-08-10 08:38 AM

You also probably have a momo-sized horn, which are smaller than the Nardi horns. Didn't the deep corn come with a Nardi horn? Regardless, you need a ring which goes between the hub and the wheel.

Does the horn button work on your setup?

It came with a Nardi horn button, but it fits loosely in the Nardi hole.

Thanks, I ordered this ring. I hope it's the right one.

So, did you have the same problem as I did? What does your horn button snap on to? The wheel itself or the trim ring or spacer?

RLaoFD 06-08-10 02:48 PM

looks like you'll be set with that retainer ring. didn't know they had those. LOL

PandazRx-7 06-08-10 04:27 PM

I used a Works Bell hub... the Nardi horn fits right in the ID of the hub. It also comes with SRS resistors/fuse and everything...

Bought everything from http://aspecproducts.com/

Btw, I got the suede too, love it. :)

Alex Rodriguez 06-08-10 05:13 PM

let me know if your horn still doesnt work

GoodfellaFD3S 06-08-10 11:26 PM

The horn wire is green with a red tracer, I extended mine with a female spade connector. Driving in NJ without a horn is close to suicidal as I found out the hard way :D

Gordon

Well, I already had a hub and ordered the parts to make it fit so I guess I知 stuck with it now 

Yeah, we値l see how I like the deep corn. I知 not sure if the wheel sitting closer to me is a bad thing or good thing. I already sit leaned back since I知 a big guy so I知 not sure if it will be too close or not. Either way, the wheel feels great.

RLaoFD 06-09-10 12:31 PM

The way you did it, the wheel doesn't sit much closer to you since the stock one is so bulky. If anything you'll have more space because the deep corn (if in 330) is drastically smaller. I can tell you right now im practically running your setup and there is def. more room.

Now that I think about it im not sure if you're running what I am. Do you have a quick release? if not you will be fine. With a shorter hub and spacer, you retain the ability to "flick" the turn signal instead of lifting your hand off the wheel. If anything your hand is closer to the switch becaus of smaller diameter.

Nope, not running a quick release. Is that what you're running?

RLaoFD 06-09-10 10:39 PM

No I'm just running a short hub, a quick release would bring the wheel more forward and give you less space. You shouldn't be worried about this since you don't have one. With that retainer ring you bought, everything, including fitment should be fine.

Viking War Hammer 06-10-10 11:31 AM

Problem,

I got my adapter today, it fits the Nardi steering wheel bolt pattern but doesn’t fit my hub bolt pattern. Can someone just tell me which hub to order? I don’t want to drop $200, though. I see the NRG short hub for $120, is that all I need to make this work. I won’t be using a quick release.

PandazRx-7 06-10-10 11:48 AM

www.aspecproducts.com They'll hook you up with the Works Bell hub, definitly under $200. With the 350mm and regular WB hub, I think I gained 2"... if you're around 6' tall it will feel much better with the seat back and legs extended. No more legs hitting wheel. If you want to stay close to stock height, get the slim hub.

Sorry crappy phone pics...

Thank you ^^^. I sent them a email.

Question,

Will the short NRG HUB work by itself or is it meant to be used in conjunction with their quick release?
