If you could get brand new stock seats for your FD:

which would you get?

I picked base seats, only because I have the R model suede seats. They're real nice, but the base seats are real nice too... I'm def. not fond of leather, however. Too much cracking, wear and tear, slipping and sliding, etc

I picked R2 because i have them .. And when i have sat in all the others out here. All 93's FWIW. They all have seemed about 1 inch higher and tilted forward more. My 94 R2's seem to drop me down and back more than the 93 R1 that lives next to me..

It may be me but that is just my preference and the explanation why.;) Leather should not be in a car that has any intentions of hard cornering imo. Wayy to slippery and high maintanence. As if we need more of that!

Speaking of high maintenance, do any of you actually take care of the leather in your car (be it seats, steering wheels, shift knobs & boots etc) by using leather treatment things (sprays/polishes etc)?? Cuz I haven't...

r2 seats all the way

I would love Base seats in a black interior. I like my tan leather in my MB car, but I really like the look of Base seats. I don't care much for the R1 seats I've seen.

There's a shop in town that can install "OEM pattern" leather seats (skins) for $600.00 a pair. Does that price sound about right??

FDNewbie 11-27-04 06:30 PM

Hey Dave, where's the Recaro option?!?! :D

Skeltah 11-27-04 06:43 PM

Why don't you guys like leather??

I thought about that for a moment, but the 'stock' ones are as affordable as titanium seat rails.

Speaking of which, didja hear how much Mazda wants for the stock Recaro rails? $450 A POP!! Yep, we're talkin about $900 for a pair of RAILS lol. Man...that's straight up theft... I guess that's to be expected for $8250 seats :shaking head:

I like my suede seats, so im voting for suede.Yes, leather is too much maintenance, my other car has leather seats and i treat them with leather treatment, and i still think they look kinda old and the car just has 14k miles.

dgeesaman 12-01-04 04:23 PM

Just one quick bump...

SRA-FD3S 12-01-04 04:36 PM

recaro!!! but my base seats are nice and are the best out of the us fd's

DrPJM1 12-01-04 05:52 PM

Had leather, now Ultrasuede and it's so much better.

FDNewbie 12-02-04 12:19 AM

Dave, are you thinking of getting new seats?
