HID Headlight Housings for FD?

Is there anyway to get HID headlight housings for the FD? I was searching around on the forums and a lot of members retrofitted projectors into the housings.. are there any places online that sell the housings already made or will I just have to retrofit them myself?

I've been looking for them on ebay but can't seem to find them :S If anyone could direct me to somewhere I could buy these housings it would be appreciated!

Or if anyone knows if the projector housings on ebay would work good with HID kits?

I think those are for RHD though and will throw light into the eyes of oncoming drivers. Not saying there aren't any out there but I haven't seen any that are for sure LHD.

I haven't really looked, but I haven't seen them on ebay recently. I believe Jason at the rx7store sells them. These are NOT HID housings. Read the threads listed below for more info...

Good info. in both of these threads.

Does anyone know if these cheap ebay housings would work well with HIDs? I just don't want to blind anyone.

I'm guessing they wouldn't work at all if they are the ones pictured. They do not have mounting tabs. This was the same issue with alot of other housings on ebay.

ahh I know I was reading up on it and most housings on ebay don't have the tabs that fit the rx7. I just need housings that I can put my HIDs in and won't blind anyone! haha do you know where I could get one that wouldn't be custom made?

Don't get anything that uses black housings, black doesn't exactly reflect light very well.

Is there a reason you dont want to put them into your stock housings?

I have a ebay HID kit in my stock housing. The light cutoff isnt sharp like with OEM HID setups, but it doesnt blind anyone. I even tried myself by driving in another car while my wife was driving the FD.

If your OEM housings are all crappy looking, buy one of those headlight polishing kits from 3M. Mine turned out looking almost like new.

Good luck, I doubt you'll find any housings as you certainly arent the first to ask about this

these are the wisesport/ebay ones. I bought a set of the wisesport ones from a member here and they are the same as the ebay ones. they say "sonar" along the bottom. I think that the rx7store ones are the same thing.

here are two sets for sale:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XENON...spagenameZWDVW

I have a set installed in my fd but I had to get rid of my hid. They threw light every where and I though it was better to get rid of them before I got pulled over.

Check these out. They are projector bulb housings that can be fitted with HID:

http://www.xtralights.com/index.asp?...S&Category=190

I've ordered from Xtralights before and they are a good company. Currently waiting on a HID ballast from them for my Range Rover.

Xtralights sells the ones you are looking at also for $39 for the housings. The problem with the kit you are looking at (and most of these kits) is it is for low beam only. No high beam capability. Also, unless you have proper cutoff, you'll bling incoming traffic. The wisesports/ebay ones don't have cutoff as far as I can tell. I think the project ones would though.

One of my next projects is to fit in a dual beam (or bixenon) HID sleepy eye look. I am going to call up Xtralights and strategize with them as to the best way to go about this. Digital HID looks good now as it consume less power and requires less ballast space but we'll see.

It would be intresting to see the cutoff of those housings. I would assume they would be pretty terriable with a cheep projector lens like that.
Ive ran hids on the stock boshe/hella replacement housings for years now and its ok but would love to have retrofitted projectors in there. I would pay big $ to have a premade lens put together.

Those ones with the projector part dont have the mounting tabs. I would like to see the light output though
