Gas Door Deletion? (creative thinking)
I would like to convert my fuel tank access to a "behind the license plate" like the old school cars. this would allow me to weld/ mold in the driver side of my car (further cleaning up the lines of the car. Sanitizing what is already beautifully clean lines.
I understand I would have to make a new fuel tank (stainless)
Remove my existing fuel tank (for measurements and to study the baffle)
I could also make some improvements to the new design (larger opening and mounting brackets for large fuel pumps) or improved baffle construction.
+ I also plan on removing the rear antenna and welding/ molding it to look cleaner than factory. and replacing it with an internal antenna somewhere in the interior panels.
If anybody has any interest, imput, advice. etc. Please feel free to contribute.
let me know what you think

I did something similar. I put the filler cap behind the drivers tail light. Stock tank, stock cap and vent system. I used a JB weld type putty and some screws to put a hinge between the center brake light and taillight, then slotted one of the upper light mounts so loosening the screw would let me swing out the lamp with wires still attached. Worked great, no evidence of fuel filler. Lasted a couple years before the putty gave out while on track. Might have pictures around if you're interested.

I always liked the way this looked, but I don't/wouldn't want to cut into the unibody.

i think there are significantly more effective, less time-consuming, and cheaper methods of enhancing the look of your car. if the lines from the gas cap bother you, so would the cuts that indicate the separation of the front or rear bumpers, or even where the fenders meet. people in the show scene have molded over, thus effectively prevented any future ease in interchangable parts.
molding antennaes and other apparent protusions have been done and improve the look of your car greatly, so go for it. if you're looking for performance and functionality, you're better invested in putting in a dry sump or improved cooling system as opposed to redesigning a fuel tank, which is not safe to say the least.
i hate to be negative nancy but i believe your boundless creativity is best spent elsewhere.
