FD rear diffuser measurements
 

I'm asking a small favor from the FD owners with rear diffusers to do a quick few measurements, so that I can see if I can make it work on my car. As you may or may not know, the aftermarket support for 3000GT's is little to none besides the few shops almost strictly dedicated to these cars. There have been a few attempts at a rear diffuser, none of which I like. Someone has also installed a evo voltex rear diffuser, but it doesn't look right because the evo is not as wide as you can imagine. I figure the FD rx7 is about as wide as a 3000GT and making the rear diffuser work may take a small amount of work.

I'm looking for these measurements:

How long is it? (differential end to bumper end)
How wide is it? (Side to side, add the side extensions separate)
Measurements where the mounting points are located and where does it mount up to on your vehicle?

Also list which diffuser you have.

I found this on google japan... It looks like these are the dimensions for a knock-off re-amemiya style/Shine Auto style rear diffuser (You'll have to convert the dimensions to inches, or whatever you need it to be. These dim's are probably pretty close to the real thing, close enough for your purposes anyway I bet...):

(also note that in real life the vortex generators that attach to the sides of the diffuser need to be rotated 180 degrees around that "310mm" line in the picture, as they are shown incorrectly)


It looks like fd owners can pretty well eye-ball/figure out where they need to drill holes in their diffusers for mounting (correct me if I'm wrong rx7club). It also looks like some people have bought & retrofitted existing mounting brackets from hardware stores, made custom mounting brackets, and even used small heavy-duty zip-ties/zap-straps for their installations (Look through the pages in these links to see for yourself):

I'm sure that you could mount up the FD diffuser underneath your chassis without much hassle. But I'm also sure that the curvey parts of the diffuser, where the diffuser actually mounts to the FD bumper (on the sides of the bumper), is not likely to fit perfectly on your 3000gt.
BUT it's possible that it would fit "close enough" on your car for you to be OK with...

Personally, my biggest worry (if I were you) would be how close to the ground the FD diffuser would be on your car, especially if your car is lowered (it seems like 3000gt rear bumpers are all ready closer to the ground than the FD's rear bumper, although I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong).
