driving flip lcd touchscreen available?
ok, I am looking for a touchscreen to use on the carputer I'm thinking about building. I wanted it low key, so I thought one that would retract like the ones on some stereo's I have seen, thinking that would be the least noticable to passers by. You know, they fold forward, and go back into the headunit. Except I just need the touchscreen lcd, no headunit. Anyone Know where I can get one of these? I have been looking for only a few days, a few hours each day on the internet.
If there are any other solutions to keep this as low key as possible without compromising useability, please let me know, this is just what I thought would be best. Thanks to anyone that can point me to the right product...later:) |

I was looking for something that would be motorized, to pull back inside the dash, like some of those higher end stereos you see on the market today, you know what I mean? ...later:) |
fab someting ;)
How about molding this unit into the din slots? Be very clean. |

ok- are 2nd gen's a dual din dash? mold the touchscreen into the old stereo location (7" lilliput screens seem to be popular for this). When you are molding the screen into place, recess it about 1/2inch so you can put a cover over the screen when not in use. For the cover cut the very end of your old head unit and configure it so that it still looks functional and use that as a cover. It will look bone-stock to the average passerby and when you want the screen visible just remove the cover.
Hard to explain with out pictures. bill |
i had the EXACT same idea as above but never got around to doing it.....well i actually havent even bought a screen yet
