Custom FD Seats

Well its been too cold to be productive in the garage so I'm finally finishing up my tan to black conversion.

This is what I've been using to get rid of the tan and it's been working out pretty well.

Don't mind Bane

Finished the seat plastics

And now finally onto the good stuff!

The seats were done by Austin of ESH Upholstering out of Maryland. He's done a lot of FD seats and it shows, really great work.

I also got a matching headliner from him

Can't wait to get this all in the car!

I did the door sills and kick panels over a year ago and they have held up fine with no chipping. They are a pretty high traffic area so I expect these to last for a while.

Yeah he definitely knows what he's doing.

I'm eventually going to give him my old tan door panels and see if he can match the seats. That would really set the whole interior off I think.

I dropped them off in person while I was on vacation and he had them installed in a couple days.

He had made them ahead of time, so I'm not sure how long it would take from scratch.
Plus I also had the headliner done, shift boot, and ebrake boot.

I would imagine a couple weeks depending on how busy they are. He'll have to chime in to give you the details, but definitely worth it IMO.

Well they were quoted with the headliner and shift/ebrake boots so I don't have a specific seat price. However, it was very reasonable especially considering the quality.

thanks for the inspiration on the seat, i decided to use a local guy and i love how they turned out. For reference i got these seats recovered, shift boot and e brake boot done for $950.

Not trying to jack your thread but i thought i share my seats for reference for other ppl.

seats

Seats look perfect. I'm in the process of re-doing my tan interior and have been toying with changing to black. Your experience is a big help- also there are no more Mazda factory reupholstery kits available anywhere in the USA and the used seats I just bought are only slightly better than what I already have. Like Mick Jagger says.... "Paint it black"
