Honestly, I have no idea.
I copied this out of my 1993 FD Wiring Diagram, and pretty much applies to the 94 and 95 US spec.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the voltage spread the stock aplifiers take, or the stock voltage spread the stock headunit puts out.

From what I've read, if you have a new head unit that has 5V preamp outputs, you can (might be able to) wire those directly into the bose harness in the car (drive the stock drivers and local amps with the 5V preamp output of the headunit).

But I'm looking for confirmation.

I've Confirmed. I wired from the 5V RCA pre-amp outputs direct into the Bose harness with all teh stock Bose gear still in the car. I was even able to turn off the amp in the headunit. The sound at low and mid levels is amazing. At highest levels (ie, drivign with the sunroof and windows open and still being able to hear) I'm getting some static - not normal distortion, but some other - only occasional - noise/static. I have no idea if this is because of my wiring solution or not at this point.

I have the Adapter and may try it just to see if I get a more reliable high-volume sound - maybe it will remove some grounding issue, interference, or static buildup issues? we will see.

But in terms of whether it works, and whether the voltage is compatible with a 5V preamp out - it sure is.

Question.....
Can i splice the center speaker wires into the left and right speaker wires? i want to bypass my center amp because it is making a buzzing noise with the engine and i already have a seperate amp hooked up to my left and right speakers.
So on the diagram it would be the V/Y wire connected to both the G and R wires on the right and left speakers and cutting the wires (G and R) from the center amp. The same goes for the negative side of the center speaker: the Y/G wire on the center speaker connected to both the L and W wires on the left and right speakers, again, disconnecting these wires (L and W) from the center amp.

for anyone who can help...

i got my car with the bose system in it and it had a kenwood deck installed with all the speakers and the bose system in the back working. recently, it stopped working and i pulled the harness kenwood harness out and replaced it with a new one.

well, i noticed the original kenwood harness that was in there was wired in all sorts of screwy and ridiculous. it didnt make sense to me. i wired it in "properly" color to color and now i doesnt work at all. it was wired in previously with the speaker wires on the kenwood harness together going to to 1 wire on the car harness. such as, grey and grey/black both going to just grey. it was weird how it was. i have to put it back the way it was but to no avail.

i have gotten as far as power but no audio. before you go and tell me that i need that adapter.... your wrong. it was working before without it so it should work now. anyone who has any idea as to how it may have been or what i could possible do, it would be greatly appreciated...

The little adapter is not required....but it makes tuning of the system a LOT easier. I wanted to be able to raise the volume of my radio all the way up and not make the speakers sound like poop. So the adapter allowed me to lower the input to where I needed it to be so that it doesn't damage the Bose amps or speakers.

Just remember that each Bose speaker has its own amplifier that needs power. I'd first check the wiring to one of the side speakers and get power connected to it and speaker output from the head unit to see how it goes. The door speakers have 4 wires. Power and ground for the amp and + & - for audio.

I believe the little grey adapter (2 wire green and red) is to test the speakers, it goes directly to the +/- of both speakers. ie direct input from another stereo (unplug the connectors to the amps)

Help please!

I have a jdm 96 spec series 7, I have tried to put a new jvc unit to replace the factory unit. All wired in etc but absolutely no sound now coming from speakers. Before with factory Unit the speakers worked. New unit has power etc just no sound coming out... What should I do.? Have I blown something maybe as the head deck is 55w?

More than likely you havent sent power to the amps. Did you see the wiring diagram for the wire that needs power to trigger the amps on?
