Any CD/Receivers that match FD's red illumination scheme?
I have a sort of odd question, something I haven't seen posted here before. When I bought my 1994 FD, I almost immediately removed the Bose (i.e. Clarion) deck and installed an Alpine. Unfortunately, the Alpine uses bright green illumination which doesn't match the amber/red illumination of the car. I'm sure someone out there has an opinion on who makes a good in-dash CD/Receiver deck that matches the FD's illumination scheme more closely. I'm not really interested in pulling the dash apart to change the bulbs as I happen to like the amber/red color scheme.
If anyone has any suggestions (and pictures would be perfect!), I'd love to hear them. Thanks! |
Most sony decks (if I am remembering correctly) use red illumination. Personally I am not a fan of sony headunits. Kenwood makes a few headunits that have several different color choices available. I owned a great JVC deck that had a combination of red/blue display that matched my interior lights in my '00 eclipse which were red. Hopefully this helps. The best thing to do is just start going to lots of different stereo shops and check out what they have.

I just saw this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/alpine-headunit-420239/
Does anyone have a picture of an Alpine CDA-9835 matched to their FD's illumination? |
More specifically, I'm looking for currently available CD/Receiver head units that match the red illumination.

the alpine 9845 should have color changing options and whatnot
|
dont buy a sony they are crap! only get an alpine or an eclipse deck, the eclipse cd7000 will match your lights I have it and it matches perfectly and sounds great

on my alpine head unit a 9845 has i think 4 color options that should match. so i would think any of the higher up head units have color change options
|
alpine and nakamichi decks have good matcihng illumination
|
My old Kenwood had matching amber lighting but that shouldn't be why you buy the unit. My JVC AVX2 is amazing and has more features then the car does (steering remote and cell mute capable) and you could stll retain the center channel with an apline amp. Nakamichi is way overpriced. Eclipse is nice. You could allways change the oem color scheme to green instead.
