Aftermarket Steering wheel and cops
I want to put on an aftermarket steering wheel, removable to help with security. Can't steal a car with no steering wheel. For those that have them, are cops hardasses about fix it tickets on those? I'm in San Diego if that matters.

I have a Momo aftermarket wheel and I live in Toronto. I haven't been pulled over yet though. Fingers crossed, but in the past I was not harassed

Would most cops even recognize an aftermarket steering wheel?
By which I mean that most cops have never seen an RX7; let alone know what the wheel looks like. Especially if you get a simple black Nardi wheel, they did fit that brand to the FD so you aren't lying if you tell them Mazda used Nardi wheels on some RX7's  |
It wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that a deep corn doesn't have an airbag.
OP: I know a few people in the Bay Area with aftermarket steering wheels and have never heard anyone mention getting hassled. |

Fair point.....my other vehicles have been so old that they never came with airbags, so i forget the one in my FD was removed! So with that in mind I personally would think the decision of removal regarding safety is more of a worry than a ticket form a cop. But then where I live the cops couldn't care less what you do to your car :egrin: |
Haha I agree 100%.
"No airbag is illegal because you might get injured if you crash. Here's a carton of cigarettes and a Oxycontin prescription." |

I’ve been pulled over with one and the cop never noticed it. But then again, there were quite a few other things to distract him including my turbo timer :D |
