Map Sensor info

Hi

I want to ask if anyone knows why is there a filter in the hose that goes to my Map sensor, is this standard. I bought this set up a month ago and am in the process of connecting it. Also where does the Map sensor hook up to? I know is the manifold but anywhere on the manifold?

And about a CT26 Turbo, the wastegate hose was split in two when I got it with two hose clamp like if something was in between there, is it possible a boost gauge was there?

Thanks

Chief

This is something the Japanese companies like to do - run a filter in the vacuum line.
I don't find it absolutely necessary, since the MAP sensor itself is a dead-end?
The filter can protect the MAP sensor from fluids or debris that get caught inside the line...

MAP sensor needs to be hooked up somewhere in the intake path between the engine and throttle body.
It has to be AFTER the throttle body.

"CT26" implies you're talking about a Toyota?
You realize this is a Mazda RX-7 board, right?
The split sure sounds like there was a boost controller (stock?) system installed previously.

Doesnt this post belong in that toyota/mr2 forum?

That "T" on the wastegate house probably means just what Ted said, specially if this came from Japan, they're always installing aftermarket products on their cars.

You will want to connect your MAP sensor vaccuum line to the intake manifole AFTER the TB, as REted mentioned... also it wouldn't hurt to have it sourced from a PLENUM or common air space for all intake runners, as this will give you a more accurate source. If you use just one intake runner, it may be subject to more intake air pulses, causing more fluctuation, and generally more headaches in the tuning process...

It wouldn't hurt to remove the air filter, and it wouldn't hurt to leave it in place... some people prefer to use them, but in all honesty, it won't make a big difference either way.
