I HATE HALTECH! (connection issues)

So. i have been trying to get the E6K to connect to my computer the last weeks, i have tried all the tings that different forums say i have to do to be able to connect (dosbox and so on)
i have tried both a laptop that has com1 and one with an rs232 adapter, but no luck
all i get is reconnect haltech
the fuelpump fires upp, all the relays klikk and the injectors klikk when i turn on the ignition.
so im all out of ideas now
please help me

I have dosbox connecting to my e6k on 2 separate computers. There are some settings that need to get changed in the config file in order to get it to work. did you change these settings?

what operating system are you using? Windows 95-98 should connect right away. XP and vista need dosbox and people have not been having much luck with windows 7.

are you using a SERIAL cable? there are other cables that fit the COM port but are not serial (such as NULL MODEM) and these will not work.

Let's see..the Haltech E6K is like 15 year old technology. And then your using a newer type computer to communicate with it, and you expect it to work reliably? So your using one OS, running a OS simulator, into a USB adapter that converts it into a serial connection you can't expect it to work flawlessly?

I use a 10 year old laptop, that has a serial port running windows 98/DOS and I HARDLY EVER have a communication issue.

C'mon give the old Haltech a break! LOL!

get dell lattititude 600 series laptop $100 they come with a 9 pin serial. get D-fend add
E6Kv634 to dfend and run with dos box. Change com ports to direst serial COM1 in both dos box as well as E6K. turn IGN on in car, load haltech. press Y. watch bar load. i had the exact same problem as you, did this, havent had one since. except that my car wont start.

yes, it is possible. Check the FSM to be sure which is which, but one pin has to be power and the other has to be ground and the injectors will not work if they are switched.

yes, that could be the problem. The injectors could also just be stuck open, when was the last time they were rebuilt/flow tested?
