Haltech sold to American company

Saw this mentioned by someone in a thread, but was surprised there wasn’t one specifically for it:

I was pretty surprised by this. I feel like it would be risky for an American company to be investing in aftermarket ECUs given all the recent EPA crack downs with regard to car modification. Even small time shops got huge fines for selling hondata.

They’re mostly going after modded factory ecus and blocking emissions codes etc. on newer OBD2 vehicles. The PnP models might be a gray area though, but as a mostly racing oriented part that doesn’t support or mask OBD2 they might be on the safer side.

I may be a bit naive, but I'm expecting better economy and cleaner emissions with my Elite750 and my GESI Cat compared to the 42 year old Nikki and a thermal reactor.

I would agree with that. But 1) the Feds don't care haha, 2) I think your application is likely an outlier (meaning I don't think millions of dollars were paid to Haltech in order to capture a bigger customer base of old cars converting to EFI).

This Motec fanboy hopes that Germany-based "MoTec" is a different company than the Aussie blokes.

Barely bargain basement now, if it's integrated into the existing motorsport range, what the price does might be interesting to see.

I wouldn’t expect any price drops from Bosch Motorsports myself.

Looks like RWB has some transmission products. Maybe we will see a transmission controller built into the next gen Haltech ECUs. Would be great to have integrated DCT support.
