Haltech Elite 1500 firmware update to NSP

Im a little late to the game but I am finally ready to take the leap on the NSP firmware update for my Haltech Elite 1500. I've watched a few videos and it seems strait forward enough, aside from disconnecting the coil packs during the update and being sure I have a saved copy of my current tune what else should I look forward to? Any surprises to note? Also, what pros and cons have you all noticed from updating ?

Thanks!

NSP is lightyears better than ESP in my opinion - well worth the update. The newer "nexus" style injection staging works smoother and the fluid film model (vs. the older transient throttle) works very well too. Overall it's a way nicer program overall.

You got it right - disconnect coils, make sure you save everything and let it rip! The youtube videos Haltech has out cover it real well.

Firmware update went just fine. I originally had an issue because I was running 2.45.2 and there was no option to update to NSP within the ESP software. I guess the ESP online function is dead??

Anyway I manually found and updated to the 2.45.3 firmware and than from there was able to Update to the NSP. Everything went well. Ran out of time last night. Now I just need to plug back in the coils start the car and make sure it runs fine. LOL

Looking forward to digging into the software a bit also!

Finally had a chance to take the car for a few drives. The cruise transient throttle was HOT GARBAGE. Holding throttle steady, AFR's were jumping from 11 to 15 randomly. I compared it to the ESP settings and everything was identical! I was frustrated. Dug online and did some reading. I was still using the OLDER style transient throttle settings. I turned that OFF and used the NSP's newer MAP prediction. Right from the start it was smooth as butter. It's quite impressive how it dialed in the cruise and transient throttle right away.

So far so good!

Yeah the new MAP prediction/fluid film model does seem to work really well right out of the box. Glad you got it figured out pretty quickly because issues like that will really ruin the driving experience. I'm running the new MAP prediction model on my Miata (elite 750), but am still actually on the old trans throttle setup on my Rx7 since it runs super smooth. I'm afraid to mess with it too much lol
