Haltech E6X Headaches need advise/help

So after months of dragging and finally connecting the pain in the A** wiring harness, my 85 GSL SE with a 90 turbo swap is ready for launch. My problem is that when I connect my haltech to my laptop, i try to go online, but once the reader gets to 99%, it asks for a password! What password? I bought this new from Alamomotorsports down in Texas and this is the first time I used the haltech e6x. Could it be that they previously used it and they had a password set to it? I uninstalled halwinx and reinstalled it, but it keeps asking for a damn a password. I don't know if I can return it either bc I bought back in January, but bc of time, we werent able to finish installing and wiring until recently. Is there anything i can do? Can they reset the Haltech or am I basically screwed out of 1k!

Traditionally we stick to Comm1, but 1-4 should work, your comm port settings should look like the attached image. The max speed you can run is 19.6kbites.

I tried changing it t Com 1 but it keeps saying "requested com port is in use, please select another."

Dynex doesn't work, I've tried it.. unfortunately I think a sticky needs to be made of the many many adaptors that don't work.

We're going to use this one and indicate the ones that DO work.

Well, i would suggest anybody who has played with Haltech or owns one should register to that forum, its a pretty good knowledge base since its introduction, its grown pretty well.
