haltech e6k troubles

bought a ecu off a guy on here and got a harness from the local haltech tuner, installed and no start. pulled plugs and no fuel, had spark, pump is working, pulled supply line and nothing. pulled injector connector from rotor 2 primary and checked voltage, had 12v on one side, put meter to other side and cranked but no volts. went through and checked all my wiring and everything seems good, went to check fuses, all fuses were good, then checked voltage there, one of the fuses has no power, its the 30 amp, if i jump 12v to it the fuel pump just runs constant, the computer hooks up, shows me temps, engine speed while cranking and appears normal, loaded claudios 550 1600 e6k on s5 13bt motor map. i searched and read the threads pertaining to fuel and injectors, im at a stand still and i have a driving event next weekend and was supposed to be on the dyno on saturday. thanks for any help guys, cant wait to drive this thing.

okay so the fuse that doesnt have power, only gets power when you crank, its for the fuel pump relay. still not getting anywhere as far as injectors go. i guess nobody has any ideas?

On the Haltech, did you enable the injectors? Also did you enable the injector drivers? There are inputs that you need to make before attempting to start the engine. If you do not know what I mean, check chapter 5 of the manual. I believe it is chapter 13 where they talk about the injector drivers.

talked to claudio, re installed the base map and it is now on there correctly. tried to start and still having troubles, now im not getting any fuel to the front injector, the back is now working but i pulled the rail, left the injectors in it and cranked it, got fuel out of the rear rotor injector but not the front one. **** is driving me crazy. i will get this figured out, just need to think.

Make sure that you've wired the injector outputs correctly:

Inj1 (light blue) to Front Primary
Inj2 (blue/red) to Rear Primary
Inj3 (green/red) to Front Secondary
Inj4 (pink) to Rear Secondary

Also, make sure the fuel mode is set to staging, make sure you're ignition divide by is set to 2, make sure that the ECU is in good working condition, if it has a bad output this could also be a problem. If you want to have it check out, you have 2 options, find a running car that has a K, connect i to that car, load that car's map file and if all works the way it should the ECU is good, if it behaves in the same manner you've got a bad ECU and you can send it to Haltech to get repaired.

Bare in mind that old DOS based ECUs have to be sent to Australia to get repaired so it takes a while.

i checked my wiring yesterday and it is all good, i have thought about your test metthod but kind of reverse, find a haltech and load a base map and try to start the car. if it starts then its the ecu. i will check the map again today when i am off work. thanks claudio

The pumps not workign if the supply line is dry

There won't be voltage on the other side. The ECU pulls one side to ground to open the injector. The way to test that the ECU is pulsing the injector AT the injector is by using a noid light, or an LED plugged into the connector.

Check out the wiring where the fuel pump relay is getting its power. It may be tapped into an incorrect circuit such as one for the starter......which would explain why it only runs when the starter's turning.

In all honesty, don't take this the wrong way, but the wiring is not correct. It can't be or the fuel pump would be running. First start by finding why that circuit doesn't power up properly. It should come on and prime for 3-4 seconds when the ECU is turned on, and then run when the car cranks over until you shut off the ECU.

Then, once you've got fuel pressure (or if you're really antsy, jumper power to the pump) try starting it. If it doesn't fire or try to fire, then look at the injectors with a noid light or LED.

im really sorry for not being better at explaining myself through typing. when key is turned to the on position the pump turns on for 6 or so seconds then shuts off. then when you crank the pump turns on until you stop cranking. when i pulled the supply line i get plenty of fuel. i fear that either the ecu is damaged or there is a break in the light blue wire somewhere between the ecu and the injector. i have given up on going driving this weekend, now just trying to figure this out. i will figure it out though. thanks for everybodys patience, i iwll keep this thread updated.

so tearbo2(aka lee) came over today and hooked up to the car and got it started and running quite nicely.......on one rotor, he started going through it and found the light blue wire severed down by the plug that goes into the ecu, we fixed the wire, hooked up the battery cables and he turned the key and she started up and idled at 900. once again, thanks a million lee, now lets get to the dyno and tune this thing.
