So got more done but got a bit stuck on th he drive by wire. I think its because i dont have the latest firmware..
For starters how do you firmware upgrade? Its searching for a file but there is nothing there ? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...159e1a4133.jpg Otherwise got the pedal and tb working but only for 1 second at a time https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...83d0df1f96.jpg |
Did I miss the part explaining your drive by wire setup? Like how about you give us a bunch of pictures of where you mounted the pedal, how the throttlebody is installed, how you handled the wiring, where the throttlebody came from, etc.
|
LS3 TB and LS3 Holden VF pedel (from same car) TPS is fine, APP1 and APP2 both read fine. TB motor drives up and down, but does error on the pedal soon after.
But as noted that part doesn't mater yet - Im asking about the firmware update then Ill know Im starting from a good platform |
Unless 2.05.0 is the most recent firmware? (Edit - ok its confirmed its now)
|
|
ok may have figured out the issue with the version. Need to get internet to my PC in the garage...
|
Well did the firmware upgrad and the tb is responding better. But the issue is the pedal. Or its wiring?
The error is a voltage corolation error? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d5878fb10c.jpg Video of the tb calibration |
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...097348733c.jpg
And the data log from if looks fine. I tried reversing the currents. Slightly different voltages but still doesnt clibrate. |
pedell is 92238396 as well...
still can't find a accurate wiring diagram for it |
You mentioned APP1, APP2, and TPS. What about TPS2? Do you have it connected and reading correctly.
|
For firmware updates, you need to use ESP Online. Update the files with ESP Online and then run the firmware update.
|
I think tps 2 is fine.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...ac723f9f1a.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...dcbe02872f.jpg But i wondering if its a tb issue more than the pedal |
a few points:
1) those throttles and pedals rarely fail. In general they're very robust due to the safety concern. The harness you have in your vehicle for the system could be a different situation. 2) it's highly likely that you are one of the rare customers to try and do a custom electronic throttle setup trying to adapt DBW to a non DBW vehicle (I bet it's 5% max of Elite users). They probably have very limited testing in the market. I would go right to Haltech and have them help you. It's their diagnostic monitors that you are tripping, sort of an aftermarket approximation of what OBD II does on a modern car. 3) Right now you have used parts. In the event that it is a bad part, just buy new ones. You can get a brand new throttlebody for an LS3 Camaro from Rock Auto for $130 USD for example. GM sells millions of these throttlebodies and pedals. |
Well, I suggested you update the firmware but it looks like you've already done that. As above, contact Haltech. Run a log and email it to them. Their forum is also pretty well supported now. May try a post on there.
|
Cheers guys,
I think Ill get another TB and go from there if it doesnt the same thing will then hit up the haltech boards. EDIT - just bought another TB. Will wait the few weeks for it to get here and will let you know how I get on. |
Well good news and bad news....
After stuffing about with every wiring combination i got stuck. There is shit loads of wrong information on the net as well. Basically found a Pontiac G8 wiring diagram (similar to the holden VE) at the 11th hour and thought. What have i got to lose. Voltages and directions were not what I expected - but it calibrated and started working. You ripper! Fyi.... app1 and app2 run parallel and different ranges. That's primarily what threw me the most. Bad news. Well spend 300 aud getting a new throttle to australia... (nothing I cant sell again) But it works :) |
For future reference for the internets when some other poor bugger tries to do this.

Chris, do you know what the FFE setup is for the VR sensor on the tigger. I thought I had the hall but I dont...
Do I make ground the trigger still? |
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...347fa9c375.jpg
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7277a429d2.jpg hmm tried both ground and not ground but not sparking. Hmm will keep digging |
Ok, looks like its a wiring issue - From the E8 to the 1500 the green wire moved from pin b2 to pin b5.
So will switch tonight and see how it goes |
Also, do you have a close up pic of the turbo oil drain on the front cover? I've been attempting to make the one on my FC "perform" better by using various AN fittings, without much success. |
The E8 had a common ground for the trigger and home VR. The Sport and Elite have dedicated ground for each. You can use a common ground but you'll need to make the correct selection for the ground reference. Think that would be disabled for the E8 style wiring but I don't have anything in front of me for reference to confirm.
|
yeah switched the pins and now getting some RPM showing up.
So now next step - seeing if Im getting spark and timing! :) Really I need to make up a remote starter - doing this all solo is a pain in the ass at times. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...67dc7272d5.jpg KNONFS: mate the turbo drain is a pain. Going AN fittings I couldnt make it work, just the radius was always not tight enough and clashed with my power steering AN fittings, Ended up having a custom drain line installed. |

So after swapping the wires. Im now getting rpm but its now picking up on the home...
thought it would be simple but there must be a trick. log and map attached. FFE said the setup was all correct.. Its a VR sensor as well fyi. |
Post your map file. And how do you have the crank sensor wired? Is VE- to ground or does it connect to A5? Have several of these 36-1 FFE kits running on FDs with stock sensors on the Elite ECU. Not sure we have any running with the FFE sensor though.
