E6K and Windows XP

What's the trick to get the Haltech software to work with windows XP? I keep getting the erroe message that says that it can't see the port, so what's the trick?

It's not windows compatible. Check your manual, it's all there.

It's not the Haltech program. It's XP blocking the port from a DOS application. I need a way to get around it.
Thanks

Well your problem is, your using a mircosoft product, but we'll forgive you XP no longer has DOS as its building blocks. You may have to find a DOS emulator or beg Haltech for a windows version of the software.

Are you using a USB to Serial adapator?

No just a serial port. The same port that has worked in the past (before XP)

Like people said before, XP doesnt run itself through DOS. Its not "blocking the port from a DOS app", it just plain doesnt understand it. Depending on how you feel about MS, XP is just too smart ( or dumb...you choose ) for DOS.
