E11v2 vs. E6X

Hi,

I looking to buy either a E11v2 or a E6X for my RX7 3rd gen. I just want to know what the advantages are (if any) in buying the E11v2. I've read thru a lot of the E11v2's manual (from Haltech's website) but I can't see a download for the E6X's manual.

I have 550 primaries and 1600 secondaries are am having a big problem with 'staging' on the (damn) Microtech LT8 I'm currently running. I know the E11v2 has several staging options (eg. after staging keep the primaries on a low (mSec) setting, while ramping up the secondaries). But what about the E6X? Are there any options?

Also, are there more points in the fuel/ignition maps for the E11v2 than in the E6X? 32 vs. 16 maybe?

Any other useful comparisons?

The E6X is just an evolution of the E6K.
If you can find an E6K manual - it's pretty much the same.
Basically, the only changes are full sequential (not for rotary ) fuel injection, dual map capable, and the new HalwinX windows software.

Yes, E11V2 has much more resolution.
The E11V2 has...
...much more outputs.
...more inputs.
...more compensation maps.
...more complex compensation maps (i.e. 3D coolant map, 2D x4 throttle pump maps).

Try and download the Halwin for both the E11V2 and the HalwinX for the E6X.
You do not *need* a Haltech ECU connected to it for the programs to work.
You can poke around and check out all the menus and options by yourself.
This is probably the best way to get an idea of each instead of reading it in a manual.

The E11V2 is a better ECU. Whether you need $400 (or so) more of ECU for your car, is for you to decide. I run an E6X and find that it does a pretty good job of running my rotary. I don't think I'd spend $400 (or so) more for the E11V2. However, if I had $400 sitting around I would have gone for it, the benefits are nice, just not (in my personal opinion) mandatory.

Thanks for your advice guys, I'm probably going for the E11v2 as I will probably use the inputs when I get around to adding stuff like water injection and traction control etc.
But I'll check out the Halwin(X) sofware and read the E6K manual first.

OK, I've played around with the software for both E6X (halwinX 1.0) and E11v2 (v1.3 and v1.4.3). I prefer the E11v2 as it has better Staging amongst other things. But, Why does the RPM for the 'fuel correction maps' (eg. Wide Open Throttle map, Staged Injection map) only go 0 to 16000rpm in 1000rpm steps, when I've set all the main fuel and ignition maps to use 0 to 9000rpm (ie. via the 'variable points rpm setup' map)?

Also the Ammount in the Staged Injection map is in units of milliseconds, not by percentage which I think should be more useful. But, does the Ammount apply to both primary and secondary injectors, or just secondaries?

Good question.
You might want to ask Haltech AUS about that.

I don't normally touch the WOT (Full Throttle?) map.
Only those engines which do not have stable MAP sensor readings would benefit from this map.
You should try and tune the main fuel map for most applications.

The Haltech ECU extrapolate in between points, and in most applications, smooth maps are the key.
This might be the case that you don't really need to get a better resolution than every 1,000RPM's?

The E11V2 is able to utilize two different types of fuel injector staging.
One type is the primary hold, which would hold the primaries to the last bar prior to staging.
Thus any bar after staging would just affect the secondary fuel injectors.
The second type is the more familiar "batch" type which fires both primaries and secondaries with the same pulsewidth as dictate by the fuel map after the staging bar.

As for mS versus %, it's just how Haltech designed the software interface.
Although the maps use mS, most of the data read-out displays also show %.
mS is easily calculate by comparing mS to the RPM time reference.
There is also a mathematical quirk in the computations, which would make it impossible to display % duty cycle at 0RPM - how can you divide by 0?
Also, on really low RPM's, for example, a 0.05mS pulsewidth at 500RPM is equal to 0.000025%!

did anyone mention the e11 will control the omp? handy if you don't wanna premix everytime you fill up.
