e11/20b problems...

so ive got a 3 rotor, running e11v2, 1.71 software, b32 firmware, map is from my old 20b, so the fuel is off, but timing and all the other stuff is ok

and its doing the following; it actually drives semi-decent, but under 2500ish rpms it smokes a lot, and it feels like it runs on less than 3 rotors. i can adjust the fuel map way up and way down to 0 and it makes very little difference.

its like an injector is stuck open, or something.

we did pull the rails out and pressureize the fuel system and the injectors dont leak. they are wired up like i had mine.

i notice also that the ignition setup is different, my trigger angle is 48, tooth offset is 0. i notice my old map tooth offset is 3, and its been long enough i dont remember what it should be.

any ideas? i'm basically at a dead end, tps works, map sensor works, ect works, ignition works, everythings been removed under the plenum, i'm not sure what else to look for, so any help is appriciated

Did you remember to reload the HALTECH E11/E8 DEFAULT BASE MAP after you performed the Firmware update, lots of people are forgetting to do this BEFORE you reload your old map.

Try that.... reload the base map and then reload your old map, worst case scenario you will have to reload the new firmware again, reload the base map, then your old map.

Wao! long time no speak Ralph!! where you been man? You got an email where i can reach ya?

Anyway, yes, it should work, since that is a common problem people have been having because they're not doing that little step. The new firmware "redistributes" the data in the processor (technical description), so when you put in the old map with out doing the base map first, it just get mixed up.

What software version were you you using before?
Remember with the 1.71 version the coolant correction map range was changed from 0-100% to 0-250% so all your settings from the earlier map would be off. Also depending on the original version used the ignition setup would also change. I have not seen a change in ignition setup from 1.62 to 1.71 but if you're going from 1.59 and earlier then the ignition setup is going to be different.

ah ok that explains the timing bit then. i think it went from 1.3 to 1.7.... but i did redo the ignition for this car, cause i had the cas stabbed in a different spot on mine.

coolant map i can turn off, and it makes no difference, i can also tune the fuel down to 0, and the car still ran... it was showing .008ish ms

Do that again and check the corrections data page. Something has to be giving it fuel. But yeah I had the same problem loading 1.71, forgetting to load the default map first. I was transitioning between 1.7.0.X to play with autotune and 1.7.1 last month. It did other strange (and dangerous) things when not loading the default map first, like chaning the load points in the map sensor configuration.
