What carbon/fiberglass parts you want made?/Intro

Hello rx7 club

We (Devari) specialize in carbon fiber and fiberglass parts for the automotive industry and would like to expand our inventory to the rx7 chassis.

We could make both hand laid pieces which are strong but on the heavy side and vacuumed infused pieces which are strong, light weight but cost significantly more then the hand laid pieces.

Here are some pictures of our work from the molding process, vacuum process and finish products.....

So let us know what pieces you guys want made from oem, replicas(prefer not to do) and parts that aren't offered yet. I will check up on this thread to see which part has the most interest and will hopefully start a group buy for it and so on....

After the group buys are over the products are still offered but not at group buy pricing.

BTW Im not new to this forum my regular forum account is S14.3REW

Our first group buy will be for the FD Sun Roof, which will be setup later tonight.

ptrhahn 07-09-10 09:25 PM

I'm in for a vac-infused carbon sunroof. I'll try to dig up the old GB threads from other vendors to ping potentially interested parties.

Race and OEM Door panels. Maybe integrate the door panels and trim panels together.

Carbon dash for racing with incorporated gauge hood.

Devari Carbon 07-10-10 12:10 AM

What about shaved interior panels(center console, radio trim and gauge hood) where you could at your own gauges and switches etc.

For example....

This but with out the holes and coin tray only the shifter hole will be there.

What about carbon upper intake manifold? That way it won't heat soak like the stock piece... Or would that be too difficult, and extremely expensive?

Cover or full replacement?

If a full replacement you are correct about it being difficult and expensive.

Laz93RX7 07-10-10 06:23 AM

how about making this. I'm sure a couple folks out there want this aswell

I had a spare FD glove box i just threw away a couple weeks ago, if i still had it i would of made one.

This piece and any other flat pieces are easy to DIY, you could purchase flat sheets of carbon from us also, we just need the dimensions

The thing with that is it will only work and look good with that filter and IC setup.

For example on the red FD it has the same piece but only works with M2 intake/IC

But we could make flat sheets of carbon and you could cut it your self to fit your application.

Asuka fenders only work with there bumper since the bumper is also extended.

Center console is wrapped in carbon, we could also do carbon wrap/over lay on any piece just PM for a quote.

FD Mud Guards?

R1 Lip?

hwnd 07-11-10 04:15 AM

not offering anything in the way of autoclave?

paul_3rdgen 07-11-10 11:57 AM

I like some of the covers, cleans things up.

rc80 07-11-10 01:52 PM

Interior plastics.... OEM style.

Meaning door plastics, center shift console, center gauge console, drivers speedo/tach console & top dome piece.

Another vendor attempted but I missed the opportunity.

I'm just after replacing the old, brittle OEM plastics with something stronger and better lasting. Would prefer an OEM finish, but realize I'd probably need to have the carbon fiber painted.

As usual, demand & pricing will dictate.
Seeing as how many FD's have broken OEM interior plastic pieces... it may return the most bang for your investment buck.

Currently not

davyv 123 07-12-10 02:09 PM

As above, full interior for RHD.

Sarusanj 07-12-10 05:10 PM

If you're just overlaying and not making entirely new pieces, it would be sweet to just send in all the plastics and the customer could just mark what they want shaved. For example, I would like all the interiors plastics covered, and blanking the center console and radio bezel would be fine, but I still want A/C controls and such. Interior door panels are already made by Seibon among others, so I wouldn't bother with that unless you can do it at a significantly cheaper cost. Interior pieces I also think would fine with just hand layed, so long as the finish came out good enough? If a full interior would be way time consuming and expensive, I would be down for just the normal gauge bezel & hood/shifter plate like Rc80 said. Especially if I can get it done in plain weave like the rest of my stuff. Blank the radio DIN would be a plus.

Yes we could do overlay also, PM me with what parts you want to be wrapped and what you want deleted.

For replacement parts if there are interest i could do a kit which includes 3 pieces center console, radio trim and gauge bezel/hood.

how much to make this hood for the FC3s?

^^^
If there is interest i doubt we could make a replica because first we need to find that hood to make a mold out of and by the looks of it that piece is from japan so i think it would be hard to obtain.

Interior pieces are definitely in our future plans.

How about the carbon fiber oem aluminum scuff plates?

What hood style are you guys talking about? OEM? T2? Replica?

Seattle_mazdaspeeddemon 07-17-10 08:04 PM

What about CF turbo 2/enfin oem side skirts for FCs, that would be cool.

Also a nice looking rear lip that has only the left hole cut out for us people with corksport exhaust systems.

juicyjosh 07-17-10 09:13 PM

Door panels

Most FD owners need interior door panels that don't creak and stretch and sound like they're going to break every time you pull the door closed.

As odd as this sounds, I'd love a CF air intake bottom half. I'd like to retain everything about the upper half (especially to pass a quick visual inspection), but have the bottom half accept a k&n and be lower-profile to allow for the radiator fans to flow more easily. A rectangular feed tube, running the length of the k&n filter (or as long as possible) which fits down beside the radiator to allow for higher and cooler air flow, angled such that the lowest part is toward the rear of the car, and it forms a pseudo ram-air effect. I guess it would slope at a similar angle to the radiator? The bottom shape (if looking from the front bumper), ideally, would be like a Y so that the rectangular tube can evenly distribute across the filter, while still allowing more room for the radiator air flow.

I'm not sure if the Fluidyne radiator is wider than the stock one, but I'm hoping it's not, because that's what I have.

Sarusanj 07-19-10 12:21 AM

Any estimated pricing on an interior center console/radio trim/gauge cover/gauge hood kit? For the right price and a plain weave option I'm in right meow.

We won't be starting on this for a while maybe in like 2 months.

no pricing yet but will be affordable, for this would you guys be interested in fiberglass version but wrap in carbon interior fabric? It will be cheaper and i think the carbon fabric feels/looks better for interior parts.

This is what im talking about.
http://www.pyspeed.com/product-p/rd-8001.htm

I think its a waste to use real carbon to make interior pieces.

Also the carbon gets scratch easier compared to the interior fabric.

If you can make it in black fiberglass I'd take that. No wrap.
I'm only interested in new pieces to replace the oem junkers I have now.

I'd be in for a version of the above, as well as a cover for close to the firewall but not necessarily attached to the strut towers, similar to this:

An 84-85 Blanked center console piece or one with atleast the top 3 holes and vents [without the shutters] would be absolutely awesome as replacements cost an arm and a leg and would allow for gauge and possibly aftermarket radio install easier.

Can't seem to edit but ment to add basically keep everything from the 3 holes up as that middle space is for the air con controls but from the three holes down would be awesome blank.

Indeed. I'm not a fan of the fabric wrap. Either real carbon, or maaaaaybe paintable fiberglass. (Though I'm not really a fan of that either.)

evot23 07-22-10 10:25 PM

Rear nonbose hatch cover...should be easy enough. Seems like there are always people looking for the OEM non bose one.

Antfenech 07-23-10 01:25 AM

I'd love to get a hold of some stronger driver side door cup, and cubby for the FD's, OEM's cost around 100 and they're the same weak plastic crap.
