Ok- so I just now had the time to give everything a closer inspection and come to find out I received the MAS MI00 kit for the RX-8 (SE3P). Anyone else double check their parts yet?
SB- this isn't good, please advise. Thank you, Steven Please email me directly heath@sakebombgarage.com if anyone has this or any other issue... I'll sort this out first thing tomorrow for you and facilitate the exchange. -Heath |
I know it's not your fault and I believe you will fix things. It does appear to be an honest mistake, the larger box containing the kit did indeed say RX-7 as well as the packing slip, but once I pulled out the two smaller boxes and started reading the directions everything was in terms of the RX-8. So I looked on the outside of the two smaller boxes and indeed they listed RX-8 components. I verified the content via Ohlins website and here we are.
I appreciate your attention in this matter, thank you. P.S.- I can send you some pics of the contradicting packaging material if you wish. V/R, Steven |
I just checked through mine and thankfully I have the correct parts. The two boxes and the instructions show the correct part number and application. I was really worried reading your post as I would have to ship it back to the US if it was the wrong thing.
The Ohlins look really good and I will upload some pics later. Thanks, SBG. |

I just finally got to opening up the instructions (out of town for work), and it looks like I got the RX8 set as well. Email sent to SBG.

Email responded to... it looks like these were packaged wrong at the factory in Sweeden. We're doing our best to expedite the next run of parts but this neither reflects well on us or Ohlins. I'll do my best to advocate for everyone getting their parts ASAP.
Ohlins: Great suspension, appalling packaging jobs! Please everyone check the contents of your boxes!!! If your box is incorrect please email me immediately info@sakebombgarage.com -Heath |
Fwiw, I recieved the correct parts. There's nothing I can say about these coilovers that hasn't been said before, the hype is completely warranted.

Ok, the coilovers have been shipped back. Any idea on timeframe for replacements? If they say it's going to be a few months I would prefer to bow out of the group buy for the time being, at least until supplies have been replenished.
Thank you. V/R, Steven |
I love everything about that pic. From 99 spec parts, to the action shot in the rain, to jamming to your tunes while driving.

For those of us that received the RX-8 kits, are there any updates from Ohlins yet on when the replacements will be ready??

Also just to let you guys know, we just became an official Swift Springs dealer. We'll be adding them as optional extras for our Ohlins kits (and replacement springs for other applications), however as they weren't available at the time we ran the group buy we're offering significantly reduced pricing to everyone from the group buy. If you're interested in a set please PM or email us ASAP ... we can't list prices :icon_tup:  ;) info@sakebombgarage.com http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/...esAgent/04.jpg Swift + Ohlins.... a potent combo. For those of you who are not familiar with Swift, they're basically the bees knees :icon_tup:. Swift Springs are made in Japan out of melted down katanas by robot unicorns and are literally freaking amazing. In every test we've seen... they win, hands down, bar none, THE most consistent springs out there. Oh, and they're also typically the lightest, have the most stroke, least winds, and least droop over time of every other spring out there. Yes :ylsuper: Related to modding/upgrading the Ohlins: First of all, they are phenomenal out of the box in stock form, so lets get that out there first and foremost. Do they need new springs? No. Now for those that want a more track-oriented setup (less of a street/track compromise) with a stiffer ride (or softer for a dedicated street car), or you want to add a spring-rate-stagger front to rear they can be modified in two ways: Re-valve for new spring rates: The DFV's can be re-valved for any spring rate you choose, however it's not cheap ($500 to re-valve the whole set). While we can set customers up with Ohlins for a re-valve, it's not particularly economical once you add in the cost of new springs. Add new springs to the existing valving: The stock valving is actually quite robust, and will allow tweaks (within reason) to the spring rate while still performing exceptionally well. While the stock spring rates are roughly 11kg F / 11kg R ... the "stock" valving will however handle anything up to 14kg and down to 9kg, and will allow you to run a staggered spring rate (softer in the rear) if desired. As stated above Swift Springs are more accurate (holding the same spring rate throughout the entire stroke of the spring) yielding more predictable suspension movement throughout the full range of motion. They also have less winds per inch (more gap between each coil) which allows their stroke to be longer than other springs allowing for increased suspension travel. They are typically lighter, and will resist droop (sagging in height over time) more so than the stock springs. If anyone is interested or would like to know more information, please post below or shoot us a PM/Email. Now back to waiting for the next batch to arrive... https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8296/7...82e29dab_z.jpg |
Unfortunately we have once again been pushed back by Ohlins in Sweden. Unfortunately there's not much we can do to speed them up so we've got to be the bearer of bad news... our batch of FD suspension is due to arrive on the 13th (about two weeks) and will ship the day they arrive. Sorry for the bad news and extended wait everyone, they are having some serious supply issues at the moment and can not meet demand so the Ohlins kits are becoming very difficult to get.

My wife has done a lot of work with a couple Swedish companies. When they say they are working hard to meet demand, it's kinda like a French soldier saying they have your back. They don't do overtime or long working hours also just like the French ;). But, they are really nice people and deliver on their promises albeit a little late.
No offense intended to any French or Swedish members, more jealousy. |
