Just wanted to let you in on a little project I've been working on. I figure it's finally at a point where I can share it with all of you.

WHAT IS IT?
If you frequent car shows you'll see lots of older makes/models of vehicles with their original windows stickers... but how? Well, many are actually super high end replicas. In fact, some car show classes REQUIRE an original window sticker (or replica) to be judged. There are companies out there that cater to MOPAR or classic Porsche for example, but no one is offering something for our beloved RX-7. Seeing as these are now reaching 'collector' status, I thought it would be a good idea, and fun, to start offering a solution.

THE PROCESS
Basically, I took as much archival data for RX-7s as I could find and compiled a database of information... MPGs, options, trims, dealer names/number, etc, etc.
From there, I took as many images of windows stickers as I could find and created a proper layout... Period specific fonts (there's like, a dozen), logos, spacing, etc, etc.
Then, I found a printer and high quality paper that would make the end product something worthwhile... Canon PIXMA Pro-10 printer (it supports matte ink, which is a must) along with dual matte 80# paper.
Finally, just for fun, I decided to create a couple different layers to add some patina if people wanted... One is a "clean" look, one is a adorned with crumples and coffee stains and the last looks like a photocopy.

ORDERING
EVERY window sticker would be unique to EVERY owners car. If you wanted one, I'd need your VIN...

From the VIN, I should be able to extract:
Year (there are differences from the 1993 to 1994/1995 stickers in layout/font)
Trim (R1/R2, Base, Touring, PEP/PEG)
Exterior Color
Interior Color
Transmission Type
Cali Model or not
Dealer
Price

Everything would be unique to YOUR car.

OPTIONS
You'll be able to select if you wanted a "clean" version of the sticker or one of the patina layers.

Finally, I may offer lamination and framing if people want. The paper itself is a nice 80# (215GSM) matte finish which is impressive on it's own. But it's also perfect for framing or laminating.

PRICING
Most of the services out there cost $100+ per sticker, plus extras of the patina, lamination, framing, etc.

I'm trying to target $50-$60 as a price for the sticker. Lamination and frames would obviously be more.

Thanks for the support guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this would be a cool keepsake to have.

I feel I should mention - this is a NOVELTY item. This is not meant to be passed off as an original window sticker to the next buyer. I've had a couple PMs regarding it, so I figured I'd post an acknowledgement of the intentions of this project.

ALSO, I've had a couple PMs about customizing these window stickers for individual vehicle configurations. 3 Rotors, LS Swaps, etc. At first I was hesitant because that wasn't the original intent of the project, but when I took a step back and realized this IS just for fun - I figured WHY NOT? If you have a custom request - I can do my best to accommodate it in a OEM looking way.

 

Very cool.... an all the way custom one would be a great novelty. Just list out all the mods on the car as options or something. Then put the actual mpg.... those single digit numbers would be great to see

 

It's funny how you see one thing... then everyone else sees another. I guess that's the great thing about this hobby and community in general.

I'd be open to whatever people wanted.

 

I really hate you sometimes. You bring all these things to market and I want all of them, but can only afford some of them....
