Now the question now is: are people still interested in us pushing this project along?

If it's off the shelf, why can't we just buy it?

We also know at least two of the bolts will have to be shortened. Plus we’d like to add indicators to the washers and possibly coat them all for a nice finished product. Not to mention, it’s been almost two years since this discussion started. No one since has just ordered them. We figured if we did the legwork we could offer a nice product to the community. |
I'd be interested

If it’s an “upgrade” from the OEM chamber bolts , count me in ! |
Alpha Garage solution looks great.
Should retain the fine adjustment available stock (unlike the locks) and provide enough friction to keep the alignment. I went with the updated Mazda pieces in 2013 and they still moved on me (295 Dot R up front). I found just putting locktite behind the washers during/after alignment stopped them from moving. Alpha Garage solution is much more elegant! |
Any updates on this? I just took mine off and I can spin the washer round and round now.

So this has been on the back burner for a while. But we did get the prototypes and went to install them in a subframe. All was going well until a little problem snuck up:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...94977977887630 https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...94977977887630 https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...15087163387985 The washers from SPC were just 'off' and they didn't have any other options (we tried a TON). Our engineer contact at SPC basically said we were out of luck. Sooooo, this sent us back to square one. Our next step was to contact a local shop we use for some other work and see if he can make them from scratch. He's a materials expert, so after explaining the issue, he came back with some solutions. We are currently running a batch of washers / bolts which we are having cut from raw grade 10 carbon steel. I'm being told this stuff is about as hard as it gets and should address issues people are experiencing with rounded bolts, bored out washers and loss of alignment settings. The catch? It's NOT cheap... but it's tough. I am hoping to have some in hand next week and already lined up a couple people to send them off to for testing. I will keep you guys posted. |
Unfortunate about the set back but happy to hear you're still pushing forward to figure out a solution. Want these bad!

Right now, it is really cost prohibitive to make these. I know. It sounds crazy to me as well, but the raw material cost is really up there. I think, the best solution is probably the Paco Motorsports Eccentric Locks: https://pacomotorsports.com/product/eccentric-locks/ These should work with the OEM bolts which are still available from Ray. The total package of this would probably be 1/2 the price of what we were seeing at *cost*. |
Tragic. :crying:
But thanks for the link! These fit for the FD as well?? Seems like a perfectly adequate substitute solution. |

Can anyone confirm the Paco washers with new camber bolts fit the FD?
|
I've recently spoken with Mark from Poco Motorsports and can confirm the locks they currently sell will NOT fit the FD.
Mark has had a couple of FD people inquire in the past about these and they've even had an FD in their shop for other work so he has been able to check fitment personally. He also said that it wouldn't be hard at all to make locks specific for the FD and that they would be willing to do it if interest was there for them. To that end, I am going to make a new thread to see how much collective interest we can scrounge up and I'll keep Mark updated on that progress. Hopefully we can get a good showing together and make it worth Poco's time to produce an FD specific set! |
Typo: poco <> paco*

Soo I'm putting that whole Paco thing on hold for now. A longstanding forum member has let me know that they're actually right on the verge of releasing a solution to this problem that they've had in the works for a while and they'll be revealing it to the community soon. :icon_tup:

I'm down for this
