3rd Generation Gauge POD's

Good day all,
I am Brendon and living in SA.

I have noticed that there is some renewed interest in gauge pod's for the FD and thought i should share a project i have been working on.
I have been working on a dual gauge pod for the RHD FD3S and was wondering if anyone else might require such an item.

Dash speaker - Dual Gauge POD

This item was 3D printed and is the 2nd Prototype.

We have already designed an updated version that is angled more towards the driver and with staggered gauges.

Latest design. We have not printed this one as of yet. Might be making more changes.

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Please advise if i may not be going about this the right way.
Thank you.
Regards

I would think there would be more interest for a LHD version. Looks like a nice option tho. Also, a 60mm version would be good too. Not many options for those

Hi Silver,
Once i finalize the design, a LHD version can be easily rendered also. 60mm Version would also be pretty simple to create also.
We will be printing the next version soon, with all required mounting clips.
Thanks for the feedback, will be posting more info ASAP.

Thanks R-R,
There's definitely a shortage of RHD pod's out there. At some point i may try to get a 3 POD done also.
But at this point Dual is fine in my case.

@Selonari, Quad 60mm sounds like a beast, but definitely possible. If there's enough interest, i can have a design put together.

There is always interest for gauge pods. Double or triple. I waited a year for FLYRX7 to get back to me on his pods.

Good Day ,

Apologies for the Non existent updates to this project. I actually have made some good progress.
The main issue is that 3D printed parts currently cannot handle the amount of heat generated inside the car on a very hot day, especially if standing in the sun.

i have already created a mold for my latest design which can be cast in a much more suitable material.
I am not 100% happy with the first mold , so will be creating a new one within a week or so.

Updates should start flowing in soon

Hi Brendon,
Would you share your gauge pod in a STL file?
Great design!

I am currently looking at LHD dual gauge pods, not many options available. I would definitely be interested in this. Hope it's coming along well.

If the gauges have bevels, they're going to be uncomfortably close.

I'm actually 3D printing a gauge holder myself, but it's going into the audio area since my car has no stereo. It will also hold the gauge controller and boost controller's remote.

Maybe have it sit more flush with the dash ala flypod? That's probably what you meant with "smaller base".

Looks nice and sturdy though!

Hi Natey.

Right you are! Were currently working on getting the POD to fit well in the speaker recess , its taking a bit of fine tuning, but we will finalize during the week.

Hopefully i will have the final product sorted in the next week or so.

I think it would look better with a flat top.

And you might want to make the curves a bit more organic to better match the FD's interior.

Hello Brendon.
One thing to consider and you may have already. I recently bought a set of Speed Gear gauges for my FD. With these there is a threaded bezel that sandwiches the gauge and pod together holding it in place. You may want to factor that in to your design so there is enough room.
Link provided for your viewing.
2-1/16" Speedhut Water Temp Gauge 120-260F. Auto No Warning Light From Speedhut.

Pod looks great, Anxious to see the end version

Regards.

Thanks for the feedback Valkyrie and Drew,

Im going to mess around with flattening the top a bit, i also think it might look pretty cool.

@Drew, those type of gauges may be a bit difficult to accommodate the threaded "nut" at the back. Unless i actually make a version of the POD that's threaded on the inside. Which may actually work pretty well. The gauge could just screw directly into the pod.

Are there a lot of these types of gauges out there?

Thanks all
