RX8 trans question

Does ANYBODY know if an RX8 trans will bolt up to a FC? If so has anybody done it yet?

GUITARJUNKIE28 06-28-04 02:17 AM

should bolt to the motor. mounts and driveshaft--i don't know about.

I was more concerned about it bolting to the motor than anything else. So you really think it will bolt up? I wonder if the shifter will land in the same spot as the FC shifter or at least damn close to it.

everything bolts to everything...lol

you may have to use a t2 pressure plate and a renesis disk.

so does this mean a renesis can drop into an FC?
i'd love to have that engine under my cars hood.

....

Wouldnt mind putting a Renesis in my FB. But then I wouldn't mind having 34 happy hookers working for me either.

you'd probably need to work out the clutch stuff.
build a rear mount/crossmember
get a driveshaft made or resized

other than that, it should go in pretty easily. i'd rather see a vette t56 6-speed though...they won't blow up under turbo power

all rx trannys will bolt up to all rotary engines. how it mounts under the car is what's going to be different, as well as the flywheels and clutch disks. the pressure plates will have to match the flywheel.

I would'nt even bother doing a swap. 99% of the time, I skip 5th gear totaly. Its to close of a ratio to 4th and 6th, making it almost a 1/2 gear. I hope you guys know what I mean. CJ

GUITARJUNKIE28 07-02-04 12:36 AM

lemme put it this way: i want a .68 top gear. i don't even care if it's a 5 or 6 speed...

RETed 07-02-04 03:11 AM

Why would you even want to do that?
The tranny costs more than the car.
