Rotary in a Suzuki Samurai

I'm putting a rotary in my suzuki samurai. I have a series4 non-turbo motor, I also have the series5 fuel injection with the wire harness, I don't want to use any of the emission stuff, but i wanted to know what sensors I have to use to make the car run nice.

Well, you'd probably need all the motor mounted sensors as well as the MAF (and the computer), unless you follow the instructions, use a distributor and go to a carburetor setup. Try the "Other Rotary Vehicles" section of the forum, they probably have more information on non-standard setups.

I saw one at KDR, looked sick but that 13bre should be in a RX7

rotarysamurai 08-16-06 11:06 AM

Yea i have the computer...i just want to have the only 4x4 rotary around...lol

Terrh 08-16-06 11:23 AM

there are several (well at least 2 others) rotary samurais around, they're pretty neat

do a search on the board in "gerneral automotive" and you should be able to find one of them.

not knocking it, but why would anyone want a Rotary in a 4x4? most 4x4s are torque monsters, even the little samauri had a torquey little 4banger(it was a 4 right?) but id bet that lill thing still had more torque than a rotary... MAYBE i could see it if it were a Turbo, but thatd just be nuts... id prolly do a backflip at boost...

just a thought, i dont think the S5 ECM and such will work with an S4... i could be wrong though

there's a guy down here that has one i a samurai. i think its pretty dope swap.

rx7man13b 08-16-06 03:37 PM

Can he just swap the bell housing to keep the 4x4 working?

rx7man13b 08-16-06 03:38 PM

Im sure torque wont be a problem with the Samurai rear end but I dont know if it can handle the power for to long

Richter12x2 08-16-06 05:05 PM

Well, I wouldn't drag race it or anything :D

rotarysamurai 08-16-06 05:13 PM

When its all done, with that rear end having a final gear ratio of 5.1, it'll def do a flip. Im gonna end up using a rear end from a ford 250

i have one but is not 4x4 the stock sammi eng only puts out 60hp so the rotary eng its really an upgrade lol
looking for some weld wheels to replace the 20's i bought it with them

Exactly what I was thinking. Short gearing means who cares about the engine torque. Just load on the powa. Interesting project.

won't the truck just spin around the engine?
