rotary aviation or atkin's?
i've seen thread's about either of the videos but i haven't seen anyone talk about the difference. i just wondering if one is better than the other one. does one give better detail's? does one show more than the other? i want to get the best video so i can learn how to rebuild my own engine. is there one on how to rebuild the transmission(i highly doubt it)?
|
come on no one seen both and can tell me which one's better? or atleast if they're basically the same?
|
Get the RA vid. Bruce does a far bettor job of teaching in his vid. They both leave out a couple minor tings. But the Atkins vid is more of a fast forward of how to put one together. Bruce realy teaches you more.
|
awesome, thanks for your answer.
|
haven't seen the Atkins' one but I have the one by Bruce and he really explains everything well. Not too boring to watch either.

Work longer.

Bruce Turrentine is the shit
he lives around here and he's built engines for 3 people I know |

I must admit, the Atkins video is kinda boring. I might get the RA video before I actually put the engine back together if it teaches you better.
|
Yeah, I seem to always get delirious about this time of morning!
Sorry about that! :D -Ted |
cool then i don't have to waste money buying both of them to see which one's better. about the apex seals, so the aftermarket one's suck? should i just buy the OEM one's above all? so i should stay away from RA's apex seals?
|
so should i stick with the OEM apex seal? should i never concider aftermarket one's? do i have to get the OEM one's from the dealer? who give the best rebuild kit and who gives the cheapest?
|
I have RA seals and im happy with them so far....break in is longer becasue the seals are alot harder, but the RA seals in my opinion can take on more abuse.
|
another vote for mazda seals.

i've heard OEM seals are just the right hardness... supposedly... and that some aftermarket seals are either too soft or too hard. i'm inclined to think that aftermarket seals are made from stock that is not always the same with each order and that's why people have at certain times had problems with some manufacturers. personally, i don't have enough hands on experience to say for sure... all i really know is that i rebuilt my engine with atkins parts all around, solid S5 housings, and i premix and my engine feels and runs great. as far as who has the cheapest kit, it depends what needs replacing. some places have better prices on one thing, some on another. and yes, you would get ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER parts from the original manufacturer... mazda |
what will happen if i used tII rotor's on a NA? i know it's a really stupid question and most likely dumb to do, but i just want to know what'll happen?

what makes them have lower compression? is it that they're lighter or something?
|
The tub in the rotor is bigger. This is by design, even piston engines follow the same design parameters. Less static CR in a boosted engine makes it more resistant to detonation/ping/knock.

Dorks ... this wasn't a question about apex seals. If it were, I'd say to use the RX-7 Specialties seals.
About videos - another good one out there nobody has mentioned is the DIY-RE 4 DVD set. I have a copy, and it's really really good! http://www.diy-re.co.nz/ |
what's with the RX-7 SPECIALTIES SEALS? who sells them?
does that 4 dvd set cost the same here as in NZ? |
so... does anyone know?anyone?
|
wwww.rotaryengine.com has the RX-7 SPECIALTIES SEALS.. All I have heard about the SPECIALTIES SEALS Is what RXTuner magazine has said about them, But there website does not say JACK about them...
Yeah I dont know what apex seals to run either.. I thought about running the Specialties seals, Rotorsportsracing seals or sticking with the RA that came in my rebuild kit.. I just dont know what would be best for 14PSI boost.. :dunno: |
