Reliable OEM Parts Vendors for RX-7 FC?
Reliable OEM Parts Vendors for RX-7 FC?
Hello — I’m looking for reliable OEM parts vendors for my 1990 RX-7 FC. I’ve come across Atkins Rotary, Mazdatrix, and Racing Beat. Any experiences with them, or other recommendations (local salvage, specialist shops, or online sellers)? Thanks in advance for any pointers!
Mazdatrix tends to have a good catalogue of parts, and I've had good success ordering with them. Atkins has some hoarding of rare parts, but their prices can be a little high.
For OEM parts, if it's possible, try to get direct through Mazda. You can price check at your local dealer, there is also Ray Crowe, our resident Rx7 ambassador that can get most OEM parts at the best price possible.
If these tariffs ever go away, there is also ordering parts from Japan directly either on Ebay or sites like Nengun. Right now is probably not the best time because of import duties to pay.

I've had good luck with Jim Ellis Mazda.
Mazda Parts - Jim Ellis OEM Mazda Parts
And of course I have bought from Mazdatrix as well. Those two are my go to's for OEM parts.

Ray Crowe of course!
From the 3rd Gen FAQ:
Nucar, Ray Crowe is the parts manager, gives great prices to RX-7 owners, quick shipping:
(888) 533-3400 , (703) 490-8170 (11/30/2023 - unsure if phone is correct... email is correct) , "hmkparts@aol.com" crowe.ray@aol.com

i'm sure ray can give some good deals, but there's added costs in shipping to you. if you have a local mazda dealer and the parts prices aren't much more i wouldn't see the big deal in just picking them up locally.
As an example, I recently had my FD's windshield replaced. Had the job done at NUCAR Mazda - NUCAR's price for the same OEM windshield that Ray got me (shipped to NUCAR for $0 extra) would have cost me about $100 more. My insurance company was very happy with that choice.

Thanks so much, everyone! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences and suggestions — it’s been super helpful hearing how other RX-7 owners source parts.
By the way, a few of you mentioned Ray Crowe — is he independent or affiliated with a dealership, and is the link provided in the thread the best way to reach him for parts?

There are parts catalogs in PDF format on foxed.ca, then you can google the part numbers and many dealers will show up. Prices are surprisingly different between them.
I saved a couple hundred on '84 13B rotor housings from a Florida dealer.
parts.mazdausa.com will show MSRP
I'm rebuilding a transmission and needed a few clips and shims, a little over $50 at MSRP, I figured my local dealer would be about the same, but they wanted over twice that.
I went with Ray Crowe for them and it came out a bit less than MSRP.

These days it really helps to find the part numbers, foxed.ca has the catalogs.
and then start looking, you do need to account for the final price, taxes and shipping included as these vary a lot too.
i bought a couple of Japanese Rx7 magazines, and shipping was more than the magazines.
