Rear side housing swap......

ok, i dont feel like explaining the whole story on why but i need to ONLY change the rear plate on a factory engine model number 13BRE "2 rotor cosmo" can this successfully be done if i replace the compression o-ring and the coolant o-ring and 3 side seals as long as i keep the rest of the engine together with the oil pan and some clamps and wire ect?..... what are the draw backs and longetivity issues?

bump- anybody?

why chance it.

break the entire engine down, clean and inspect, reassemble.

Best case $100 for the o-rings
Worst case $750 for all new seals and springs

well the bad would be if you dont keep the engine compressed quite all the way you might lose your coolent seals on the other rotor. ( i have actually heard of what your saying being sucessfully done belive it or not

then as far and longivity you still have all your old used parts so you still have all the wear on those....

if your TRUELY positive only u need a rear iron and side seals ( i honestly cant tell how you would know this with out looking inside....) then this could work...

but a gasket set is only about 150 dollars, if you take note of where each side and corner and apex seal were on each rotor and what side, u could just disasemble the whole engine then put it backtogether with new coolent seals, and your new iron. this would also allow u to inspect all the parts in your engine and make sure they are in spec.

basically i have 2 OEM engines that are 13BRE and One of them is my brothers engine that he has polished the rotor housings and cleaned and painted the sides and intermediate housings and it is the one that has the rear plate with the metal materal in the correct areas for me to drill and tap and my good OEM 13BRE does not have the available metal material avail but is not polished, i have enough parts for ONE rebuild and do not want to spend money to polish my engine and trade my brother or to buy rebuild parts for a good engine, i basically need a 13BRE rear plate with the correct casting...... like i said long story but there is a reason.....
