About time someone tested this, should be good for a bit of a discussion. What I take away from this is any garden variety 2t oil is fine, but if you are a money bags then synthetic is a no brainer. Whether a high or a low flash point is more desirable I have no idea though, there are high end synthetic race oils with very high and very low flash points and everything in between.

Project Farm has gotten a little boring for me lately (he just drones on and on and on...), but I watched this because you posted.

I do wish he would have tried a larger variety of oils like he usually does, but I understand he wanted to compare the two "quality" extremes.
The way he explained it, I would think a lower flash point is desirable for our application, but you do mention you've seen this all over the map on quality oils. Can you provide some examples?

I will probably continue to use Pennzoil Marine semi-synthetic unless this thread produces some sort of information that we haven't seen in the past.

Yeah i know what you mean about Project Farm. I really respect what he's doing but i usually find myself flicking past his vids as they can be boring. But ithought this one would be of interest to us.
Sorry i cant provide examples, as i have goldfish memory, but there is a thread on here where a few of us were posting and comparing data sheets ( to be fair i pretty sdure it was more hem than me lol) if i find it ill link it here.
the oil ive been using since last rebuild is Motul 800, has one of the highest flash points, but there were other equally expensive and renowned brands that had low flash points, and there were a lot of very clever people speculating which approach is better with no clear conclusion. Until someone goes full high budget prohject farm and runs a dozen brand new rotaries with a dozen popular brands of 2t to fasilure i guess no one will ever know.
To my mind high flash point = more oil on moving parts, low flash point possibly = less carbon deposit, but buggered if i know. I cannot possibly imagine the Pennzoil you are using ever being a problem either.
maybe we should all just post our own favorite oil spec sheets up in here and compare notes?

This is the other oil i use in a pinch: Castrol Active 2t. Touted as a premium mineral 2t. Both choices based on availability for me.

But the cheap one had less carbon deposits, so then that is the big winner for us and our apex seals yes? :D
