Possible oil leak on "New build engine "
1 Attachment(s)
Engine :
13b s4 N.A :Rebuild two years ago , not started , just been standing dry on the "shelf" . Well lubed when assembled . Situation : During first start up / brake in . Problem : After a couple of minutes on idle " first start up " , i noticed that a little oil had been seeping out between the front rotor housing and intermediate plate , at the spark plug area . ( see pics ) . Illustration only . The ammount is very small , maby a tenth of a " t-spoon" . : It is not comming from elsewhere , no spilling , leaks from filler tube etc , just to make myself clear . Anyone got some inputs ? , i have the same diagnose / oil-leak on my 110k miles 12a . Thanks in advance :-) |
possible missing or pinched dowel o-ring?
|
Thanks for the input mr !
|
ON the 86+ rotaries the only way oil could leak from there is if the o-ring were bad (reused from a very old engine?), pinched (mis-installed), or left out. Even on very high mileage engines the o-rings flatten down a little but oil still does not leak there.
Now on the older, 85 and earlier engines there was always an issue with oil leakage there. |
Hey !
Thanks for a great informative replay mr R.R ! By the way , i bought a mazda digital comp tester frome you on ebay 5 months ago , or so , ive repaird the box , and now its super . Thanks again :) |
Yes, I recall that. I hardly used it, as I am pretty keen at telling when an engine is blown just by eye or ear, so I did not want to take time and repair it. :)
