Overheating engine
Help,
I am a new member looking for some info on my 93 third generation RX 7.
I reside in the UK where technical help is very limited. The car is in standard trim and has covered 120k.
At present my engine is blowing off hoses etc and it has now holed the rad good and proper, and the coolant waring buzzer is coming on. I fear there are combustion gasses in the coolant.
Where do I go from here.
Brian

Make sure the thermostat opens up at the proper temp. If it is stuck shut, the coolant never circulates through the engine. If had more than one stick shut and over heat an engine, one that fried completely. 3000 dollars for an engine that was damaged from the malfunction of a $2.00 part.
If your coolant and exhaust was mixing, you would have all sorts of smoke coming out the tail pipe. Check your oil after the engine is at operating temp. (before it over heats.) If there is antifreeze mixing in the oil, you will see it on the dipstick. I don't know what else to tell you cause I don't know if your car is turbocharged or not. I guess the next cheapest thing to check would be the water pump. Good luck
