No spark - won't start 1993 FD RX7

Hi all,

I have a really tough one for the geniuses out there, I have spent weeks trying to get a spark with no success. Was running great when I bought it, I go to clean and secure some things under the intake and replace the fuel lines and now no spark. After reading tons of threads and the entire service manual some of the telling symptoms are NO TACH MOVEMENT during crank, fans usually turn on with ignition, engine will crank fine with good compression and fuel. No spark!

List of relevant upgrades:
PFC PFC3S2 (missing the commander)
Recent rebuild with streetport
Sequential turbos converted to non-sequential
Automatic transmission converted to manual

What I've tried so far:
Checked all fuses a thousand times
It's not just a flooding issue
replaced spark plugs
Checked power/ignition to PFC
Replaced coils and pigtail to coils
Replaced CAS - has good continuity to the ECU
Tested every connection I can think of - all good
Checked power to igniter

Any and all help will be much appreciated before I take it to a shop! I have a hard time finding how to test certain things (ex. Power to the coils, how to test the pulse coming from the CAS, where exactly the tach gets its pulse from and why it won't bump during start, etc.).

Thx,
Kevin

Well maybe this is a tough one. Can someone help by maybe telling me what the PFC commander will do in this instance. My car didn't come with a commander unfortunately and I have yet to get one. So questions:

- Will the commander tell me anything about the status of the ECU during crank?
- Will the commander show an engine RPM reading even if the tach doesn't?
- If the PFC is bad by chance would it still power up? Would the commander give me any error codes such as "overheat" etc? (I do at least know that it powers up and has power during crank)

Any simple help like this will be much appreciated...

Thx,
Kevin

Kevin, you have not clarified how yo came to the conclusion it's a no spark issue. Any ways the coils are susceptible to bad grounding but being that you have some mods you might have to trace back.

I live in Longmont, I might be able to assist.
