need ignition help asap

i have an 84 gsl se. it has an 87 13b n/a engine that was just rebuilt, using se wire harness, injectors, dizzy, ecu and an fc leading coil upgrade. the leading coil isn't firing at all,but the trailing is. the engine cranks and is getting fuel. i even hooked back up the stock leading coil and nothing. when i connected my test light to the + and to the - power wires to the coil,it doesn't light up. my brain hurts from trying to diagnose this issue.
here's what i've done and checked:

replaced:
igniter,coil,ecu,wires,plugs

checked:
grounds, power to coil(12v),all connecters and wires, voltage from ecu, magnetic pickup gap, power and spark from trailing side, cap and rotor

Sounds similar to the problem I was having. Have you tried posting in Generation specific forum.

I ended up replacing rotor, dizzy cap, wires, plugs, and battery terminals.

I also rebuild the carb, but mainly cause i saw fuel stain-age on the insulator.

She runs strong now.

the cap and rotor are firing the trailing plugs only and there spark. i have a modified fc leading coil firing the plugs directly and no spark. the car started and ran awesome before i blew a coolant seal and lost compression. i tried the other good fc coil that i have and nothing.

did you fix your issue bigred84?
i have the same exact issue - freshly rebuilt engine, tried to adjust the timing this morning and i'm not getting a spark from the leading plugs. will test the leading coil later tonight - didn't have time this morning, and will test the plug wires as well as change out the plugs. i'm hoping it's the plug wires, i ordered a new set that's on it's way anyway, but worry it's the distributor/coil..

no,still won't start. a buddy came over today and he left wondering, what the fuck? the leading is sparking and now the trailing won't fire. i'm completely baffled. it did this before and it fixed itself somehow. i'm not sure if it's in the ecu or not. my spare didn't help at all. i'm about to give up on the car, honestly.

could be the distributor? you have a spare one to test out with? your coils tested ok? for me i think it might be the coil - i swapped the two and lost spark on the trailing instead.
