Engine Starting Issue
Engine Starting Issue
I have an 88' RX-7 Vert that I just bought in the fall. It runs great and I haven't had any issues with it until now. I drove it at least several times a week until about 3 weeks ago. I put it away in a garage and when I tried to start it back up, I ran into a problem. The car started to crank, but the revolutions started slowing down so I thought it was the battery. I got a jump and the car started cranking fine, but still was not turning over. I tried to give it gas, but with the same issue...just cranking and the engine won't turn over. I sprayed engine starter fluid through my air intake, but had the same results. After this I gave up for now and have the battery on charge. I think it might be spark plugs or possibly a fuel issue (like fuel pump isn't working). Any ideas or simple tricks to try? Thanks.

Sounds like it's flooded to me. I'd follow the de-flooding procedure and then try to start it. I only use engine starter as a last resort when my car has been sitting for while and it always does the trick.
