Engine cuts on high rpm

Hello guys, got a little problem!!!

Got a fd non seq. with stock engine, turbo and injectors !! But a bigger fuel pump

If I run my engine with 0.5 bar it works fine but soon as I rise the boost on .8 or .9 bar
The engine cuts when I reach 5k+ rpm

Changed plugs and coils(got used coils from my spare engine) but still the same !!

Could it be the secondary injectors??

anjhindul 08-09-13 05:50 PM

what engine and what car you got bro? we cant help you if we don't know anything about the engine :(

Not knowing what engine you are using for sure I would definitely test the secondaries. if your engine is REAL old it could be you got some worn APEX slots and the higher RPM's are causing some compression problems the latter here I am leaning towards as it sounds when you boost more you are losing compression and this will happen at higher RPM's.

Ah ok sry!!!

I got the engine importet from England !! It was already rebuilded
I bought it with maybe 11000 miles

Sebastijanignac 08-09-13 06:31 PM

But if I run on .5 bar the engine works fine it only happened when I go up with the boost

some ideas to be had ... https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...13brew-907252/

Thx gotta figure out what it could be ill keep in touch

Make sure the mixtures are not getting too rich. (<11.0 AFR)

If mixtures are right than a HKS TwinPower will solve the problem (or mercury coils).
Barry

Hey Barry thx, I got it tuned on a dyno from a tuner!! I have a wideband AEM but he used his!

I looked at the commander and the Injectors are set on 110% so I asked him why so much
He told me that that's the only way to run the engine with the right afr! He tried with less% but the avr was not correct

GMD 08-12-13 08:07 PM

Things to try:

Secondary Injectors
Fuel Filter
Fuel Pump

Just a thought, I'm no expert!

Good luck, mine is in the shop right now with a similar problem (Cutting out when hitting boost)! I suspect mine has something to do with my secondaries.

RotaryEvolution 08-12-13 08:19 PM

so it was tuned and still hits a wall? find another tuner...

if he couldn't even give you a hint of what the problem was, find another tuner.

Sebastijanignac 08-13-13 05:07 AM

@ rotaryrevolution, well he told me that's the spark or coils so I changed them but still the same problem!! I'm in Austria so it's kinda difficult to get some parts or even a tuner!! So a good tuner from England came and tuned it! He is really a good one! So I got the parts I needed, after 2 weeks!!! until then he left the country!!! That was a pain in the ass!! But he got me a good tuning settings!

Sebastijanignac 08-13-13 05:11 AM

GMD wish you good luck and let me know if you got something!!! Will do the same!! And thx for your tips !! By the way how are your spark wires? I measured them and I'm 1-1,5 kilo ohm over the value

RotaryEvolution 08-13-13 09:32 AM

well, the FD coils don't work ok down low and crap out at high revs unless you are stressing them and that boost level should not be stressing them so i wouldn't assume there is anything wrong with the coils but i would make sure all 4 are firing and that they are attached to the proper plug wires.

plug wires and plugs sound a bit more realistic and i would hope the plugs were fairly new before tuning, so i would rule them out. plug wires can give misleading results, corroded/loose terminals or rips in the silicone sheathing can allow the spark to arc right out of the wire and won't show on a simple ohm test.

what are your air fuel ratios ? did you rewire the fuel pump when you upgraded it ?

or is there TOMUCH fuel? My car used to cut out when I enriched my map tomuch underboost.

Sebastijanignac 08-13-13 01:13 PM

Nope didn't do anything with wiring ? What should I do about it? My afr is always In the green zone !! ( AEM wideband )

RotaryEvolution 08-13-13 09:32 PM

green is usually overly rich, we'd need actual figures.

Sebastijanignac 08-14-13 07:13 AM

I wil give you more information soon I get something ! But the tuner told me that the avr is good!! Because he used his wideband

Tem120 08-14-13 07:56 AM

how knowledgeable is this person with rotary's and FD's I mean honestly it seems like it shouldnt be that out of this world to figure out whats wrong . specially since it works fine at lower boost levels .

how high is your boost ? if the ECU has some sort of boost control and its overboosting then fuel cutting . This could be another reason why it happens when you up the boost.

what boost controller and engine management system are you using ?

Sebastijanignac 08-14-13 02:18 PM

Im using apexi avcr and apexi power fc

NoMoregoodUsernames 08-14-13 03:02 PM

Does the engine bog down a bit when you casually drive and release the throttle?

Sebastijanignac 08-14-13 03:11 PM

What do you mean Bog down ???

Tem120 08-14-13 03:23 PM

Ok since you have the APEXI I need you to check in the boost settings what the boost is set to .

Sebastijanignac 08-14-13 03:28 PM

Ok I will check and will let you know thx
