i recently converted my 1980 12a to electrical ignition by using a newer distributor from an 83 but now that my idle and timing are all in sync with the set up, im having trouble getting it to idle. i can keep it alive by giving it gas but thats another problem is that when im keeping it alive with the gas, it will just lose total power if i let off a little. any thoughts? (its a streetported NA 12a)

 

Did you use a timing light to set the timing? When you say it loses all
power when you let off... Do you mean engine tries to stall when you let off the accelerator? Are you sure you have wired it correctly? Have you bypassed the ballast resistor and got 12v to the coils? Have you replaced the resisted coils with non resisted ones?
