Couple of problems...please help?

I picked up an 86 rx7 gxl. It didnt start for 2 hours cuz it was flooded. the seller had a fuel pump killswitch so we would turn off the pump(to get the gas out of the engine he said) while cranking then flick it on...after a while it started(lots of white smoke out the pipes). All was good till i got halfway home when it overheated hardcore and the overflow tank was bubbling and shooting water and the cap on the top left of the engine was shooting water...I had been running it at low rpms before that but someone told me today: "It's a rotary! u gotta keep the rpms high to keep it cool!"....idk if thats true but i didnt try it yet...I had already planned on getting an all new cooling system so its ok if i buy stuff. It was flooded bad so i think maybe some new spark plugs are in order because i couldnt pull the egi comp fuse(i think its called)....Any one have any help please?

u don't know? common sense would tell u they wouldn't build a car that u had to sit at a red light holding the rpm's up to keep it cool. provided the rad is flowing like it should and the t-stat is working, it will stay cool at idle all day with no problem. and i guess ur used to cars with idiot lights that come on to warn u of a problem so u don't bother glancing at gauges when u drive? that engine is probably done for if u ran it that hot.

Better hope it is a bad water pump. That white smoke might have been water vapor caused by a bad internal water seal. If you ran the car for any length of time when it was hot better hope the rotor housing aren't warped.

Ya it was hot for a while...at the time i really didnt care i just wanted to get home, it was such a horrible day/night/morning...I planned on either a full rebuild or a T2 swap...Wats the easiest/cheapest way to 200hp? N/A 2 or 3 rotor or T2 swap?

I'd say do some diagnostic work on the current engine. For 200hp, either a T2 swap or a NA rebuild with a half bridge. Forget about 3 rotor. Search for T2 swap. It's still going to cost a couple grand if your lucky.

How much would each of those cost in the end? So I could possibly save my engine even after it turned itself off from overheating? It still cranks fine no noises...

If your engine stopped because it over heated then it's gone. I quick compression test with a traditional compression tester will tell the story. I'm suggestion would be to find a cheap used motor and learn from that first. Jumping right in to a T2 swap or a rebuild requires more research and rotary skill. Learn about your current configuration first. It will go a long way for a T2 swap or rebuild in the future.

I've never done a T2 swap but my guess is that it would cost between 2-3k on the short side.

I'm guessing an 86 13b N/A will be dirt cheap lol Is there anywhere that sells the whole engine like a crate motor or something?

Wait a minute. You went to buy the car, and when it started for the first time it had white smoke coming out of the exhaust? Sounds to me like there's a decent chance that the coolant seals were toast when you bought it. Which, of course, would be why it overheated on the way home.

Could be wrong, but that's a hell of a coincidence...

Well don't discouraged, take your time & when things get running right you'll be happy. A turbo swap might be an great option if you have the time & money to invest.

everyone has their opinion on motors and power. if i had a tech sheet from the rolling dyno i was on i would prove that my 13b n/a has just about 215 whp. bullshit ios what everyone will say,but whatev. if you overheated ur rotary its most likely its fried. rotarys hate heat!!! ive built mine up so that my stock therm. gauge barely leaves c. there are many mods you can do urself to ur 13b n/a to add some power. just do some researching on this forum. thats why its here....to make easier for us.

for ur car now, i would check ur fluid level and make sure no clogs. if you let it sit and idle for 15 mins and the thermo gauge is about in the middle you prolly got lucky.
