YayeR 02-26-03 09:24 PM

ummm.... why?

Michael Eng 02-26-03 09:29 PM

why not? people put pistons in their cars

Tomco78 02-26-03 09:38 PM

But what is the ADVANTAGE of using a carburator?
It must be a reason why they don't use it...

Michael Eng 02-26-03 09:50 PM

i read that it can be set up quicker and easier than an aftermarket EFI system and it can be tuned a lot easier than one

There was some german guy that flew over for some contracting work at my friends dad work and he said that we switch his over to to a carberator so gain more horse power. I was going to how and why but he didnt speak good enough english to even bother with it. But it was on a 3rd gen.

Michael Eng 02-26-03 10:14 PM

i dont see why its unusual...people take out their rotaries to put in pistons...

Carb swaps used to be very common in the early days of EFI, because the systems then in use were not conducive to making power.

Nowadays it's a wash if the stock manifolding is done halfway decent. Carbs still rule as far as atomization goes, however they have the disadvantage of requiring wet flow through the manifold.
