Blown engine?

Hi. My buddys 93 auto FD is having some problems. It started up perfectly and drove to work just fine which is a mile away at the most. About 4 and a half hours ago he called me saying it wouldnt start. I drove out there and when he tries to start it the engine shakes with smoke shooting out the bottom of a pipe on the passenger side directly to the right of the stock bov also it has oil buildup around it. Looks like the turbo manifold. Smoke sits in the exhaust. He has 83000 miles. He had it for 3 months. He drives like a granny so i dont think that bad driving habbits did it. We changed the oil twice in the last 3 months. This past friday was one of them. I also did the o2 sensor. We also did the downpipe last month. Im hoping its like what happened to my old 89 sentra. Two spark plug wires melted some and it was running on half the engine. As far as i know everything is still stock on the REX like plugs, wires, vacum lines(we have the upgraded ones.. just havent done it), etc. We have ngk plugs and wires sitting in the front seat. So far we are going to have the on base hobby shop take care of those but at www.azrx7.com i already asked for some good shops. Let me know what you guys think. All replys are GREATLY appreciated. I hope its not apex seal.. but im sure it is sadly.

PS. I forgot to mention i had that fuel smell when starting which also leads me to believe its apex... (please, nooooo!!!!!! hehe)

If it's a stock motor it's hard to believe it was an apex seal with a granny type driver. Unless maybe the oil injectors are clogged so no oil was being shot in to lube the seals. What pipe are you referring to with smoke coming out? You need to find the source of the oil/smoke first. Maybe the oil lube line to the turbo is leaking is all. It's not coolant right? There is a turbo coolant line in the same area too.

I just took this pic... http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27.../DSC00029a.jpg

It tries to start when you crank it... it runs for a second... 2 and the very most. Could it be carbon locked? I dont think the plugs and wires have ever been changed. We already set up an appoint with the on base hobby shop here at Davis Monthan AFB. They are towing it in the morning. We have NGK plugs and wires. Hope that does something.

Also I unscrewed the coolent filler cap and some squirted out. Its been sitting for 5-6 hours. All of it was right there at the top. Could that be the thermostat is broken? Thanks for the help!

When I changed the oil on friday I did noticed oil that was on the turbos. I didnt think nothing of it. hmmm.... :wallbash:

Great news... Trevor(from azrx7.com) stopped by to check it out and i was right.. its the plugs... so going to do that tomorrow. Going to buy some turbos from the classifieds here most likely... and trev's got a y pipe... so everything is really good. Thanks for the reply RX7 8U much appreciated!!!
