1988 Rx7 TII idle/vacuum leak problem

recently just bought a 1988 Rx7 Turbo II and it came with all sorts of little problems, but nothing as big as now.

Before when I started the car warm, the idle was a little shakey so you needed to give it some help with the gas pedal and hold it for a good 30 sec. or minute.

Now I have no idea what happened! I parked it at my dad's restaurant and when I came to turn it back on it would start and idle up to at least 3k rpm then come crashing down back to zero and stalling out the car. :( It worked real well and then just died down like this.

I've talked to a friend of mine and he thinks its either the fuel pump or a vacuum leak. Another thought would be the TPS but I have no clue.

Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a huge vac leak somewhere

A common symptom of any car using a MAF sensor that has gone out is a spike in intake and then the engine dying rapidly. Are you capable of getting the car to stay running by using the throttle?
