13b TII performance questions.
 

Okay so I just bought a rough 85 GS, And my buddy just offered to sell me one of the running 13b TII's he just got for 350 bucks (hell yeah).

I'm looking to build a 275-300 hp daily diver. Would this be possible with exhaust upgrades, intake upgrades, and a street port? Probably going to run carbon seals, And maybe a megasquirt system.

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm new to rotary motors, but slowly learning.

1. carbons and turbos don't mix.
2. streetport is not needed for the power you want. if you plan to rebuild the engine and want to port it though, that's another story.
3. i'm not really sure where the stock Hitachis top out (should be quite easy to find out in the Gen II section though), but even if it can't give you the 300 you seek, you will make it well into the 200s with proper fuel, intercooling and tuning.
4. a good downpipe and exhaust would be needed, but the the OEM intake will be fine.

i decided to look it up myself because i had the time ... so according to these two threads (neither one has more than one response), it looks like you'd make it to just about the mid-200s on the stock turbo. with a T04 or some sort of T04-hybridized Hitachi you should eventually make it to where you want to be.

1. turbo and carbons don't mix. the carbon seals cannot handle any detonation at all.
2. street port isn't needed
3. the stock turbo will only do 240-250rwhp. it is easy to put a larger compressor on the stock turbo though, and then 300 is achievable. BNR is the go-to here.
4. you need a 3" downpipe, most run a complete 3" system, although the "cat back" part is less important. you probably want larger injectors, and it will want some kind of fuel control/ecu also. and a bigger intercooler can't hurt either.
