13b-rew crossmember mount cover

Trying to understand which cover to use in order to mount via the crossemember and front cover. I have an Rew and but not sure if the front cover has to be a GSL SE 12A or 13b cover to do this conversion?

Thanks
Ryan

it depends.

the only difference between a GSL-SE front cover and a later (83?-85)12A front cover is the metering pump mounting. the GSL-SE uses the same 4 line mechanical pump that the S4 FC does, and the 12A has a 2 line pump. if you run no metering pump, than any 74-85 front cover works.

both the late 12A and GSL-SE front covers have the undrilled casting boss for the turbo drain that was used on the 12A turbo.

the early 74-83? 12A covers are the same as the later one, they just don't have the boss for the turbo drain.

as an option i have seen an REW front cover with 2 blocks welded to it, so you can keep the FD cas, and front mount the engine.

According to the following thread, one can use a FC CAS with a FD ECU. Seems like a no-brainer to just use a GSL-SE front cover, slap in a S4 CAS and drop it in. It would mean either using a GSL-SE/S4 OMP and getting the R-tek mod on a N3A1 ECU, or fabbing an adapter to use the FD OMP. A Rotary Aviation OMP adapter might be a good place to start with the fabbing ;)

J9, we talked about this before, I told you how to use a FD CAS setup in a FC and make it read right:)

I won't be running an OMP. Plan on running a single hall on an elite with this setup as well. So adding a bung to the cover is not an issue. Not a fan of the CAS and its slop anyway.

oh then any 74-85 front cover works.
