Exclamation HELP! Screwed up big time, dropped nut INTO engine!

I'm shitting bricks right now, I was pulling my intake manifold off and I had a nut in my fingers as I was ligting it off and the damn thing fell into the far left hole on the lower intake manifold. I tried fishing around in there with a magnet, but I haven't come up with anything yet. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm gonna shoot myself for being so stupid.

OK. Im assuming that the nut is in the chamber now. Well here is what i would do. SIMPLE!..remove the whole intake system including the turbo and manifold. Turn the engine manually untill you can get to the apex seal area. Use your fingers to feel the nut thru the exaust ports. Most likely it will fall thru the exaust ports. If not successful with the first try then turn the motor again (manually till you hit the other apex of the rotor. GET my point???..GOOD LUCK!..let me know if it worked!

Ugh, I was afraid it was going to come to that. At least I noticed that it dropped, otherwise I'd be buying a new engine. Thanks.

Keep trying with the magnet, bend the magnet and everything. It has to be in there on the side of the rotor where you dropped it.

damn
yea go to store and buy every kinda magnet pick up tool avable, theres like 10 diff kinds. i had one with a nuice flexy shaft and a strong *** magnet, but my friend borrowed and lost it...

if the magnet still dosent work, u can a, remove uim and then have direct acess to the chamber, since you havent rotated the engine it will still be in the chabler it fell into... id recomd not rotating the engine b/c if its not in the chambered part of the rotor you will scrach and damage the housing and rotor... if you still cant get at it then u might wana try and find a local shop with a boroscope..u know the little fiberoptic camera...it might be a worst case senario but still cheaper than turbos/engine...

best o luck man, just remeber not to freak out more than you have, take your time and think everying through, one false move could cause you more trouble than you in..try to keep calm..it WILL be ok..

I've been having boost problems ever since I did the silicone hose job. I've dignosed pretty much everything I can without pulling the manifold and checking the solenoids. I already found one pinched hose but it's part of the ACV system. I also cracked my ACV and need to replace it. I picked one up from Bacon's Wrecking Yard of South Jersey ( ) .

Have to give you credit for ingenuity. I'm sure you were stress-relieved "striking it gold"!

Glad to see good things still happen.

Talking

JR, you are too funny. First it was the tie-wrap, which took you forever to finish and now it's a nut. Maybe you should just pay someone to fix your problem with your boost. Anyway, good luck with your FD.
