The hood scoop is off a mercury capri. The air filter is cold to the touch on a cold night after a few hard runs.

 

And here is my dearly beloved. Unfortunately she has to be sold so that I can pay off my new fling. I will get another TII when I am a little more financially stable. Untill then I may get a GSL-SE as a daily driver.

i am wondering tho. how for off is the weight distribution with a v8? 60% front? 65%? im sure you cant use the stock rear end and suspension. is it a live axle or independent? gotta be a drag car.

 

 

It has a stock non turbo rear end with 3.90 gears. There are some people who have done the v8 swap running 10's with the stock non turbo rear end on slicks and nitrous coming out of the hole. The weight distibution is probably about 45/55 as it is. But with the purchase of some alluminum heads, it should be greatly improved. My car has its battery in the back where the spare usually is, and just about everything that can be alluminum is, except for the pistons, rods, and heads. I hardly notice and difference in handling. Less understear, which is good.

I'd compliment you on the great paint job and custom work you've done, but I can't get past the pistons

Really wish you would have gone with a 3 rotor instead if you just wanted more low end torque and raw power.

Well seeing as how there isn't a money tree growing in my back yard, the tripple rotor swap was not even an option. Trust me I would have loved to do it had my budget permitted. I know that some of you may think its bogus, but whats more bogus, this car rotting away in a junk yard, or it being brought back to life with a v-8. Anyways, Im not out to please the masses. Life is to short to let others opinions stop me from having fun. Thanks for the compliments on the looks. I have accepted the fact that some of you don't like the motor swap idea. This has been a pretty good thread so far. Lets keep it that way. Notice there are no mazda, or RX-7 emblems on the car.

 

Who did the work on that? I always said if one of my motors blew I was going to V8 it. (Unless it was the turbo II)

not everyone has 3K to upgrade a rx
you can get a 350 rebuilt for under $800 with a 350 tranny
that is good for 400HP
I just broke 2 N/A tranny's on my car in less then 2 weeks
put a another one this saturday next day I broke it
J.W (jay-tech killer) is coming out with a tranny adapter
where you can mate a TH-350 tranny to rotary

My car has just exhaust and mild port , thats ALL my mods
I want to race you (when I find a TII tranny to put in, N/A tranny's
are crap)

13.5@104 on plain street tires with a 2.1 60FT
if i get it down to 1.8 60FT with drag radials I'll run low 13's
to high 12's

Cool I would be up for racing. It should be a really competetive race since I estimate my car will run high 13's. I raced a 2001 mustang gt and pulled pretty good, and they run low 14's. So who knows. If you want, I will notify you when I plan on going to the track again. Also if you know anyone who wants to buy a TII, let me know. Im asking 2500 bucks. Its not perfect. But it runs good and its pretty solid.

I broke the tranny yesterday after putting it in sat
sucks! lasted 1 day LoL
Oh well that is what I get for revving it to 7000 and dumping the clutch
It's going to be a couple of weeks or so before I get it going again
I have to find a TII tranny and change the flywheel and front counterwieght and also find a auto driveshaft

or I may just get another N/A tranny and not rev it so high again

My Mech just did a 1st Gen V8 conversion
motor is getting broken in (real tight still)

I won twice then redlighted the third round I don't think I'm going to get any better than 2.2 60' times until I get new shocks and tires.

I think I did a total of 7-8 runs that day and didn't want to kill my car so most of my times were mid 14's.

 

First of all I want to say, BogusFile you did a sweet job on that conversion. It looks clean and not rigged . I would like to say that I would not personally do the V8 swap for a couple of reasons. First being I like the rotary, second I want the car to be different. But those are personal reasons. I believe I am a rotary lover not a purist.

I have to give props to any one who does such conversions. You take the time to stuff that huge motor in our little cars, you rule!! I get the same argument when it comes to 240Z’s. I am helping my buddy put a LT1 in his 1972 240Z and it is going to be sweet. We are taking the time to do the conversion right and it will scream when we are finished. Same goes for BogusFile I believe that he took his time and from the pics he got a clean end result (correct me if I am wrong Bogus). I give you two thumbs up for a sweet conversion, and for pushing the gear head envelope even more. Have you done any dyno runs or ¼ mile tests yet? Lets make rotary OR boingy love not war .

 

Im going to try to get it out to the track this friday. I will post the my time slip when I run it. It should run low 14's high 13's. Even though it has a some nice parts, the cam is holding it back big time. Once I get a good cam in there it should break deep into the 12s. The only decent car I have raced is a new mustang GT that I beat pretty good. I hear they run low 14's. Well see on fri.

The oustide of your car is absolutely beautiful.

The engine is nice too. I myself would opt for a turbo rotary instead....well....first anyway. If I already had a turbo RX-7 then I would not mind having a V8 RX-7 as a toy . That thing probably hauls ***!!!
