Smile Further questions for the FC parts......

Ok well I am starting a new thread for this.

Idiot Light Guage pod
Cold Air Box
S-AFC Holder(ash tray replacement)
Headlight cover

The Items above is what I have decided to start on first.(Not in that order)

I have some more questions so I can make them better for you guys.

For the Guage pod: I plan on using a cheap 52mm guage like an autometer or something like that. Is this the common size?(I don't have any aftermarket ones )

S-AFC Holder: I am starting this one first since it is small and easier for me to work with and make. First it will be like the ash tray but will opend differently to allow the lid to hide away in the space behind the holder. Would you all like for me to make it in a regular Fiber glass composition and you all just paint it yourselves to match your taste/car? or do you want it to be CF for "looks"? blah!

Headlight cover: CF or FG?

CAI Box: I plan on making some mods on the one I have right now but I need time and that will take me till the weekend to start looking at what I need to do.

Santiago

PS- The more people respond the more things I will make and the cheaper they will be. I would also consider a group buy kinda thing if enough people want the stuff.

When you get actual parts for sale, you will want to postin the for sale section or buy advertising on the site. You won't be able to post in the 2nd gen tech section, too many people will complain.

not pissing me off in anyway shape or form, just letting you know.

In the past when people like Kevin, higgi, myself, or Banzi have posted parts or services for sale in this section, other forum members jump and and down complaining as this section is supposed to be only tech. So to make it simple, anything like that is moved to for sale/wanted, and/or the person is suggested to get in contact with the owners to place an ad on the site for their products.

For the Guage pod: 52mm or 60mm are common i guess... heh

S-AFC Holder: CF!!!11

Headlight cover: FG so you could paint it to match your car... unless you have a cf hood or something i figure it would look pretty dumb

I feel you'd be wasting your time with the headlight cover. Plenty of people make those in fiberglass and FC3S.org makes a carbon fiber headlight cover.

Make something unique! An S-AFC holder (I'd never by one, because I'll never have an S-AFC) or idiot light gauge surrounds or gauge pods in the idiot light location will be your best bet.

If I'm going to blow some money, I'm going to really blow some money and go standalone EMS. No piggybacks in my future.

The idiot cluster lid is a good idea but to make it out of CF or FG it would proabably cost close to what it would from Mazdatrix for a new one so that is debatable. I took the four larger responses from my poll(that died) and that is what I am starting on.

Santiago. PLEASE make a CF radio surround. Everyone in the FC community has been waiting and asking for one of these for a long time. I know that I would personally order 2 or 3 of them. Please take it into consideration, thanks!

A good FG CAI is my main interest. Get one done and priced before I end up making one myself and I'll consider getting one.

I can tell you right now the CAI box will be around 60-80 dollars. I can make one easily but I want to do it right. I need to make it look nice and fit near perfect so you don't have to buy more **** when you get it. What materials would you like it in? I can do FG, CF, or Kevlar. All will cost varying amounts fiberglass being the cheapest to make.

Santiago

PS- the mod that I plan may also include cool air ducting. I have figured out how to get a small duct to the front of the car with no cutting but this will be harder to make.

this kind of surround would be nice... *i beleave this is the R-Magic one* also more of a hood on the guage cluster so that the sun wont pose any kind of glare issues..

but yes a replacement sterieo surround would deffently sell.. i will stand by that one..

A small duct is useless. 3" is a minimum for fresh air intakes, and that means cutting metal. Note also that what fits on your car might not fit on other models because of different standard equipment. There's no point making a product that fits only some cars and doesn't work very well.

These are the ones I did. I ended up going out on my own and doing it because I couldn't generate any interest on the forum. A lot of work, but well worth it. I am happy with the result, but I am not doing it again - too much time...

Well I am pretty sure that it will fit because it should not interfear with anything. It will be small enough for you not to need to cut anything and IMO that is better than nothing. All cars should be the same thing in this area too.

Probably just a hole in the inner fender (passenger side...).

He did say there was no cutting required, but I know for a fact that there is nowhere on my car that you can run a 3" fresh air duct without cutting metal. That's why I asked how big, where, and on what cars.
