1/8 Mile Drag Results

I went to the 1/8 miles drags outside of Bloomington, IN at Graham’s New Hope Dragway. It was a pretty good time. The way it works; costs $20 to race. You can do as many runs as you like before 8:00pm. I did 8 runs. Then at 8 they do a dial-in bracket drag race. The winner gets $150 and 2nd gets $50. My Best Run:

RT = .561
60 ft = 2.318
1/8 ET = 10.115
1/8 MPH = 69.14

My car is an 87 base with a downpipe and the cheapest tires I could buy. I lost in the first round of the bracket, I ran a 10.3to my dial-in of 10.11 and the other guy ran a 10.58 with a dial-in of 10.49. It was fun, they have them every Thursday, if you’re around Bloomington, you should stop by.

Is 10.1 a good time for my car?
What does that transfer into in 1/4, or that not a good conversion?

1.9? He just said he had shitty tires. 2.2 would be more obtainable. I dont have any old time slips laying around to compare that too though, sorry.

how did you launch? The best 60' I ever got (this was out of my first 3 runs) was 2.46. That's terrible, but I really don't know how to launch.
My 1/8 mile time was 11.3.

On my best run I'm pretty sure I revved to 4k, slipped just a tiny bit then dropped. Slipped just enough to get moving. I got a little wheel spin but not much.

Is the 60 ft mark before you hit 2nd? One run i hit second and it went all sideways and ****, fun fun.

How are you managing to get sideways in 2nd? I have to try to do that. Ive heard with some good tires on a near stock rx-7, the best launch you can get is like a 6K dump. I know I guy who does that and gets a pretty consistent 2.2 60'.

How hard is a 6k dump on your tranny though? I did a 6k slip and got my shitty time.
I've chirped the tires into 2nd, but never ended up sideways. It must be the lack of LSD on your car, or does it have one?

A 6k dump should spin the **** out of the tires, even on a NA. Unless they are heated slicks of course, but then Id probably go for peak power dump.

It spins them pretty good, sorry to mention I just remember he is running TII wheels, which probably have an LSD too.

Yeah it was just 1/8 mile. It was in the middle of no where. Really little place, and kinda seemed family owned, but they were all nice people.

There are alot of 1/8th mile tracks out there. They are cheaper but provide similar levels of fun. Its said to be "1/2 the track, 3/4 of the fun."

the runs finish quicker too so theres less waiting, Less speed, less braking, less wear on the car. Besides the second 1/8 is only holding the gas, keeping in a straight line and shifting from 3->4th.

9.5 is a pretty good time for a N/A. Gotta love the base model, no extra **** to weight ya down. I think with some better tires i could break into the 9s unless something else breaks.

if your running 9.5 in the 1/8th mile. roughly what does that translate into for 0-60 time? I have a fetish about 0-60 times... unlike alot of guys compare their cars at the strip..

thanks

wait a second... lol, i've got a friend with a 1995 Eclipse Gs-t.. (FWD) and his best time was 9.1 He's running intake, exhaust and boost controler.. pushing 15 lbs (stock = 12lbs) His was was FAST (or so i thought)

My cousin has a 1996 Eclipse GSX (Badd ***) AWD. now that car is fast, but unfourtunatly he hasnt taken it to the strip yet... With no mods i saw him Walk all over a pretty hooked up WRX (last year model) i mean totally walked it

Amazing

Is this off a .500 "Sportsman" tree?&nbsp If it is, that's a great RT!

60mph times are very hard to extrapolate from a 1/4-mile timeslip.
