Rotary Baja vids
Remember the rotary baja on my web page? We solved the cooling issues with a bigger radiator so now we're free to have a little fun.
Here's a couple vids tearing up some guy's yard.
Vid 1: throwing rooster tails
Vid 2: closer view

Hello
I had problems when i played the first time, moving about 1 frame at the time, the second time was good.
Jeff20b thats cool,
i was planning on a project like that. i been into VW's for 25 years and got tons vw's parts, but i got too many toys and no time for it.
I decided to retired in Colorado but for me its too freaking cold to drive a VW. I wanted to put a rotary engine on one to have the cab heat!!
I bet you have tons of fun with the baja, enjoy....
Andres

Yeah I noticed the videos had a skipping problem too. Just wait a minute or two for them to download.
We're still sorting out the 'bugs'. Those burnouts were from the first test run after wiring up the fans. It seems to do ok heat-wise. The next step is fine tuning steering toe/camber, brakes and other misc things.
Andres, a rotary into a VW is certainly an excellent project to take on. There are lots of little things to keep you busy well into old age.
Seriously though, it's well worth the time and effort.

The owner drove the baja around a little yesterday. I could hear it from around the corner on my street. It's got enough volume to turn heads but nothing excessive. And yes the exhaust note character is amazing.

The rooster tail video got uploaded to youtube so I thought I'd provide a link to this thread. Nothing worse than a dead link, right? Not sure where the closer view video is.
Just a short video of his first time doing anything dirt related with the rotary swap.
